A broken heart from a lost love, yes, if the love was very strong and long-lasting. A broken heart from disrepair, if you mean physical heart damage that's another story and that happens all the time.

Yes, you can. A very close friend of mine died, he was his parents only son out of two children, he was 18. His mother was literally dying of a broken heart. Her heart was throwing off irregular heart rhythms and the doctor told her she would die of a broken heart if she did not get a pacemaker. So my answer to you is yes you can die of a broken heart.

Actually there is a medical condition called "broken heart syndrome" that has specific symptoms and heart rhythym and comes on after a mental trauma.

Other than that, no, you can't die from the sadness that comes from your emotional heart hurting. It just feels like you will. Time will help. Talking to someone will to.

Yes,there was an old couple who were in their late 80s where I live. They had been together most of their lives. He was in hospital when the wife died and was so ill he couldn't not even go the the funeral, He came out of hospital a week after she had been buried and died. He didn't want to live without her.So sad that they spent all their lives together but were not together at the end. This only happened a few months ago.
