I am not really sure what you are referring to....I work in that business, and if that were true I would have heard about it from the cardiologists.
The only thing I have heard is the suspicion that the drug coated stents (and I do not know why) may be forming clots that break off or completely occlude the coronaries, causing death.
I went to a search engine and all I could find was that doctors are saying not to stop taking Plavix until the patient is told. And some are wondering when it would be safest to tell patients when they can stop taking it. We all believe that this is media sensationalism also. I suppose you can take your chances of getting a blood clot. Or the higher incidence of using a bare metal stent and going back a few times to the cath lab for instent restenosis...

I won't talk too long about this topic cause many people have already covered it, but you have to remember one thing: Plavix is a drug that lowers the ability to create clots. Basically it thins the blood. Coumadin and Asprin do the VERY SAME THING. The doctor was trying to thin the blood so that when it passed through the coronary arteries of the heart, it wouldn't clot up and cause a heart attack. The fact that the blood is thin had nothing to do with his head wound. Now, I am not saying that the thinning didn't have ANY effect. Once you do start bleeding, it is VERY hard to get it to stop on it's own. You have to remember that there still had to be a cause of the hemorrhage, Plavix alone won't do that.
In the end, the doctor had a choice the give Plavix and reduce the risk of a heart attack, or not giive it and pray he didn't have one. It is true that Plavix can make bleeding worse, but it is very rare that your situation would happen.
-----
Truth is that if he didn't have this drug, he VERY easily could have had a heart attack, and even with it, the chance of hemorrhage is VERY rare. You just got put in a very bad situation and I'm really sorry this happened, but I doubt you could find an MD anywhere that wouldn't do the same thing. Lawyers, on the other hand, are a different story. Please don't overthink this.
-----
By the way, doctors dont get rich off of perscribing meds. The only one to profit is the to the maker of the pill, and killing ther buyers isn't what they want. A bad reputation only drops their sales, not to mention that a deceased patient won't buy their pills anymore, which is covered by most any insurance plan, meaning it is money in the bank.
Your MD had a choice to make, and I believe he made the right one. I am not a doctor and I have no intrest in making any profits for and drug company. You just need to remember that not every death has a fault to blame.

It's hard to dissern what is truth and what is media driven hysteria!
The lawyers of course are jumping right on the band wagon for the "BIG BUCKS"! They'll make it out to be whatever brings them the biggest payday and in the same respect, discourage drug manufacturer's from R&D and future drugs!
The media hype basically does the same thing. Mass panic over nothing! We need to expect some folks will not tolerate these drugs as well as others and can lead to death. Then we also have incompetant coroners who just write anything to put something on the death certificate and validate their paycheck!
I take Plavix and have for about two years now! I have had no problems what so ever and without it I would be sure to have serious complications regarding my health condition!
The whole debate began over the two drug eluting stents that escalated into a mass hysteria that now includes anything and everything- mostly claimed by greedy attorneys that are sitting in the grass waiting to bite on anything that comes along! They aren't suing for the benefit of the people who are injured from these so called killers, they are in it for their own monetary gains which one can conclude is nothing more than GREED! That greed will lend itself to more destruction than good!
We unfortunately live in a sue happy society that will embark upon any issue they can conger up enough media attention to fill their pockets with easy cash! PERIOD!!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. It sounds like his doctors, not the drug companies bear some responsibilities.
When I did cardiology, we NEVER put people on the 3 drugs, much too high a risk of bleeding. Aspirin & plavix, aspirin & coumadin, rarely plavix & coumadin, but not all three.

From everything I have read it looks as though the medical industry is covering it up. Plavix killed my father.

My Father died too after starting Plavix. very dangerous and for all the people playing devils advocate. who are probably drug reps. Didn't have to hold their dying father on a cold tile floor while he was sh#ting out blood and having a heart attack. but I have.
