Unfortunately I was able to go with her but my mom did. She doesn't understand English that much. This is all she understood. The cardiologist said she has a 2 inches (Atrial Septial Defect) hole in heart and they have referred her to another cardiologist in 2 days. Is she going to be ok? Is the surgery that they are going to perform dangerous? Please Please Please help!

I'm staying with my Dad and Mom for a few days and I want to do some good detailed cleaning around the house while I'm here. However, I don't want to asphyxiate Dad, who has COPD and is on oxygen 24/7.

I have heard that a dilution of hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle is a good surface disinfectant because it has no odor. But I'd like to use something that also will remove any greasy buildup in the kitchen, fingerprints on the doors, etc. Hydrogen peroxide is unfortunately not a grease cutter.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I am not sure what kind of food or what is in the food that is breaking me out. one time it was fish. last night it was a shake. and then one night it was pizza. I take a benadrail and it goes away but why is this happening? could there be something in my body telling me there is something wrong? and if so what would cause this to happen?

What is it that happened to people exactly? I know that kids with type 1 usually died very young and that those who got it later in their lives were put on an extremely strict diet and more or less starved to death, which prolonged their lives by up to a few months.

Is the latter valid for type 1 only or does it refer to type 2 as well? I mean, some people with type 2 can change their diet and exercise and their condition would better, isn't that so?

And then again how did doctors try to cope with it?

Does anybody know where I can find some extensive resources online? (no wiki tho) :)

Who sits down and makes up the laws for insurance regulations as to who is or is not eligible for surgery?

My friend has a lot of severe illnesses. The medication for one of these has eaten away at a lot of cartiledge in her body. She needs a total knee, which the ins co will not authorize bcause she is onoly 43. She may not live to see 44 as it is. Each day on this knee just makes it and her other ailments worse.

Another lady we know has carotid stenosis and a brain aneurism. Neither of these operations will be authorized by the ins co becuse they do not meet their criteria of percentage of blockage in the case of the carotid stenosis and severity in the case of the aneurism. An aneurism has degrees of severity in their eyes? What a crock. Let's wait until the person has a stroke and then fix it.

They pay for people to go have reversals of their tubal ligations or vasectomies so they can have more welfare kids but put the cabash on someone with a life threatening illness.

Of the last two universities I've attended there has been one student at each who has what seems like burnt skin. Is this a skin disease of some sort, or have they been involved in some sort of accident. I feel really bad about them, they sit alone and don't socialize much. I don't want to ask them what happened, but maybe someone here has a response?

My husband has an allergy to cats. It's always been annoying for him, but lately its been much worse. My mother and my sister each have cats in their home and we are always reluctant to go there because of his allergy. We go to my sister's house often in the summer because we hang out outside. We were invited for Christmas Eve this year and we really want to go. My husband is scared because benedryl somewhat works, but it makes him so sleepy. He claims that OTC claritan doesn't work. Any advise?

Also, can cat allergies get worse with age? He just turned 30, and for the past year or so his allergy seems much worse. We picked up something at my mom's house yesterday and were only there fore 5 minutes when he started burning up and his eyes were itchy and his throat was scratchy. It used to be that this would only happen after hours of being somewhere.

I dont know what is wrong with me but it is really getting me down.. I have emetophobia, a phobia of vomit. and this time last year i was really bad, the doctors sent me to see a cognitive behavior therapist and things started to get alot better. I am still petrified of sick, but not even half as bad as i was. But a couple of months ago i lost 2 stone and stopped eating a lot. i went to the doctors and they couldn't find anything wrong. i then started getting a horrible watery mouth and pains in right side and my rib feeling bruised. The doctor sent me for a scan and found that there was nothing wrong there. doctors put me on lapronzonole. and they have stopped the watery mouth. but my rib still hurts. i then had a miscarriage. and since then i have had a headache and feel dizzy. today i feel really down and miserable.. i have been to the doctors again. but they said to get my eyes checked to which i did. I also get a achy back and my neck hurts. i struggle to get too sleep and to wake

My child is currently taking a steroid based inhaler as well as steroid from the singulair. She is asthmatic. She takes two 'puffs' of the inhaler (advair) in the morning and again at night. Also at night she takes one chewable singulair tablet. It has been about 4 or 5 weeks since we've started this regimen. I have noticed that she went from being a mild mannered little angel to a screaming demon. She is more aggressive, in as much as hitting, pushing, and yelling at her sister and even myself. The difference in her behavior is completely obvious. She went from being a fairly easy going child to being a high strung and aggressive child. Could this be caused by this medicine? She literally will 'attack' you if you don't comply with her requests, she's NEVER done things like that. I am unsure what to do. I think maybe she's OVER medicated and it agitates her. Can anybody tell me what may cause this Jeckyl and Hyde behavior?

My son will be two next month. His pediatrician, whom I am about to switch, says that his speech is slightly behind, due to constant fluid in his ears. I myself, wear two hearing aides due to ear infections, etc. The pediatrician has always seemed to be so lackadaisical about any prevention of hearing problems. I want to do everything I can to prevent it! Now that the doc says his speech is behind and there is a lot of fluid in his ears, I would think there should be some further steps taken beside antibiotics. As I said, the doc doesn’t seem to really care and doesn’t seem to have a genuine concern about my child in general. Am I over reacting?? How many ear infections does it take until my son has hearing loss and someone realizes there may be a problem??
