See your GP. A referral to an ENT specialist might sort this out.

This is probably caused by allergies that prevent your sinuses from draining properly. With improper draining, the sinuses become infected. These types of infections can be low-grade problems that can last for years.

A doc can examine you to see if there is some physical condition that is limiting drainage (like a polyp, deviated septum, narrow passages), and also prescribe proper medication that includes an antibiotic.

In the mean time, you can try to improve drainage by taking three over-the-counter meds: 12- hour Mucinex to loosen and thing mucus; the original 12-hour sudafed (needs to be signed for in the US); and an antihistamine such as Claritin. Take the Mucinex and sudafed twice a day, and Claritin once a day.

I had sinus problems for years then bought a Neti pot. You put warm water and a little of the special salt into the post and pour into one nostril twisting your head so that the water runs out of the other nostril. Then repeat the other side. Look up Neti on the web and you will find more information.

You will find your sinuses with improve greatly, and the good thing about this is that you can use it as often as you need.
