Epistaxis is nose bleeding, which occurs from the anterior or posterior portion of the nasal septum. Diagnosis is by direct visualization. Treatment varies by site of bleeding but includes cautery and various types of packing.
Consult an ENT specialist.

Nosebleeds are pretty common - they are not typically a symptom of some larger problem. Nosebleeds themselves can be a medical risk if the bleeding is severe enough to cause anemia.

Most likely the nosebleed is caused by excessively dry air in heated buildings. You can alleviate this by using a humidifer in the bedroom and using a saline nasal spray,

You could also get the bleeding stopped by visiting the doc to get the blood vessel sealed off with wire instrument that emits a spark that cauterizes the vein or artery.

Having lived in the tropics your nose is not used to the bone dry conditions of a real winter. Your membranes are getting dried and bleed easily. Squirt some saline up there a few times a day, keep your finger out of there, and you should be fine. Dryness is the more likely culprit than "nose cancer".
