is it done through a blood test. My boyfriend and I are going to be going to planned parenthood to get HIV tests before I go on birth control and we eventually do not use the condoms anymore. Also, how are STD tests administered for a male? I know for a female a pap smear is needed. thanks in advance!

oh and also, he is my first sexual partner so I'm not really worried for myself, im just doing it to be 100% sure with him.

Ive had a cold for about 3 days and since last night i keep having the urge to pop my ears. This happens every hour and when i pop my ears they sometimes get very presurised. My symptoms are sinus blockage, hearing feels funny giving me the feeling asthough i need to pop my ears. What is wrong will i need to go to the docotor. Will i damage my ears by poping them alot please help me????????

The pain is on the back of my right heel. When it bothers me my heel on the back feels bruised. It also looks like there could be some inflamation there. I hurt my achilles tendon hiking about 9 months ago and felt like it healed but just recently it started bothering me again. I am just wondering if it could be because of the earlier injury or something different.

I am a 31 year old woman who is noticing bruises on my abdomen and torso area. I am on medications, lithuim, cymbalta and trazedone. I am wondering if any of these meds cause easy bruising. Someone told me it could be a sign of anemia, lukemia, or another blood disorder. Also, I have had a c-section but that was 10 years ago. I have little or no feeling in my abdomen area either. I do not know if that plays into this equation or not. Please give me your opinions on this. I am going to see a doctor tomorrow but I would just like some advice first.

For about the past year or so this has been occurring but the past 3 days its almost every 5 minutes. Right above the waistline in my left abdominal area (around where your forearm hangs in a standing position) Its very hard to describe but it feels like there is gas and it starts to make very quiet popping noises and it feels like someone is thumping me there from the inside. Its not painful at all but VERY annoying as sometimes its very audible. The only way I can explain what its like is that its like a mini whoopee cusion in my left abdominal area that someone sits on at random times. HELP.... should I be worried that its happening more often?

This guy I used to work with looked fine last week, & yesterday when I saw him, he looked BEYOND anorexic. I'm so serious he looked like one of the dying people in the Holocaust! What could be happening to him? I know he's a heavy smoker & drinker & he has liver problems because of his drinking, & he was living with another guy I used to work with & the other guy put him out of his house because of a fight he had while drunk. & now every day he comes knocking on me & my friend's door, begging to come live with us. My friend & I live together.

But the reason why we won't let him stay with us is because of his drinking & his conceited & narcissistic personality. & Also, I'm suspecting that he's on some kind of illegal drugs. & when you answer the door, he says, "Who the F...u think it is?!" & he can't even tell my friend a simple "Hello" when walking in her apartment.

Should we feel sorry for this guy & let him in or leave him be on the streets? He's in the hospital now.

I am wondering what type of impact my childhood had on my adult life. I am now 31 and just realizing I have some serious psychological problems and I am trying to figure out where they came from.
I would not say my childhood was horrible, I was not physically abused but I have never been very "close" to my family members. My parents supported me, but we were never very close. I never considered them friends and although we went on family holidays etc, things always felt "distant". Now we only speak on the phone a few minutes a month. My only sister who was a very troublesome teenager and constantly fought with my conservative parents left the house at around 17 and never returned. We have never been close and to this day only speak occassionally. Now I currently suffer from depression and poor self esteem for as long as I remember.
It really effects all aspects of my life and it does not seem to be getting better with age. I am constantly negative and unmotivated.
