if you missed a call and you don't know who's number it was that called, should you call the number back?

I do...if the number is not witheld or private then yes I do..
if they can't be bothered to leave a voicemail and then hang up .. I get anoyed and callback saying "Hi i had a missed call from this number"
Although if your busy or tired and what not and you don't really want to take the call or phone back, then I think to myself well if it's an important call, then they will call back or leave a voicemail..
I think it's really down to the individual really.. I don't think there really is a bad way to call someone back that you don't know..just be polite when you do call.

I don't return call. I do try to trace it. I think if someone really needs to talk to me, he/she can leave a message or call me later again.

google search or reverse phone directory the number.
if they didn't leave a message, apparently it was not that important.
