I'm currently wearing glasses, but I want to get contact lenses. Also I don't want my parents to find out I am getting contacts.

Visit the eye doctor with your parents! Tell them and tell the doctor that you want to use contacts because you're tired of holding 1 piece of plastic on your nose and ears! The doctor will tell you that that is a wise choice! Vision improves 100%!

The only thing you need to worry about is the care contacts demand. Seriously, contacts are not a game.

At 18 in the US you can get fitted for contacts without their consent, but do not try to use their insurance! Make sure that your Eye Doctor knows you are coming in for contacts and that you have the money to pay for the exam and fitting. It is not cheap to get a good eye exam and good fitting plus the contacts. You should let your Doctor as leats fill your first lenses, so you know that they are ok for you, and let them teach you to put them in. It is not as easy as just getting adn RX and filling it wherever you want to. Be adult about it if you are doing adult things! Good luck

Since your 18 your considered an adult so I don't see why that would be a problem, but your parents might wonder why you are not wearing glasses and have yet to walk into a door.

you are a legal adult and if you have the money they are your eyeballs. if you need their insurance just have a nice conversation over tea and no arguments. I personally prefer glasses because if you have seen me look on the floor to help people find contacts, glasses are easier. At 18 you dont need permission to wear contacts

I went by myself and got contacts when I was 16. This was back in the 80's, so maybe the nanny-state laws have become more restrictive since then.

Give it a try!

Yes, you're an adult. Legally you can, but if you try to use their insurance, they will find out. So, if you can pay for it on your own then fine, otherwise they'll know.

Of course you can unless you are on their insurance and the company requires their signature on paperwork.
