I am having varicose vein surgery and wanted to know the following:
What are the pre-op tests I will be sent for?
When sedated with a general will a tube be put down my throat?
Are you catherized?
Do they shave your leg or do you do it prior to checking in?

I am on the bottom of the scale,tested positive for lupis. I had a cold and it left me choking on a sticky clear mucus. I first cough and then it slidesup my throat and I have to spit it out,This happens day & night several times.I am tired and take a nap in the day and go to bed early too.What should I do?

A friend of mine and I have been trying to find information on why his mother is experiencing something no doctors around here can pinpoint or tell what's going on. Usually at night while sleeping, although less servere ones have occured during the day and awake, she experiences seizure like activity, even goes through the shaking, and rapid breathing and bites her toungue. (The less severe ones are just her being very forgetful, not being able to tell where she is, etc.) Afterword she has no recollection of it, and does quickly go to a doctor. They run scans and say she isn't having seizures, and don't know what's causing it. It originally occured about twice a year but is now becoming more and more common, about once a month. Can anyone unleash some light or give some advice on how to treat this or tests to do to perhaps unearth something and treat it?

Thanks SO much, it will mean a lot to me, my friend, and ofc ourse, his mother :)

My skin is oily and dry at the same time & i have a little eczema. i also wear excessive amounts of make-up. i want the eczema to go away and to not have oily/ dry peeling skin....any suggestions...?

yeah i did, i know it was rather stupid of me, but i heard that if you had sex while on your period and you had a tampon you could have sex as long as you hold on to the string, well i let go of the string and got out of it and forgot about it til i went to go and change my tampon...now i cant get it out....do i need to go to the doctor ASAP??

I know there are tons of questions like this asked on here, but they're all for several weeks/months after they got it done..

I dont know if a few days after its supposed to be red and still tender or not.

they gave me "bacitracin" and ive been using that 2-3 times a day and today i put some peroxide on it and it fizzed a lot..

I dont know how sore its supposed to be if i got it [sat] and today is [mon]

or if maybe im just wimpy and i think it hurts.
its not like omg im dying or anything but when i walk fast, jerk or slide it/rotate it, it hurts a little..

i expect it should still be sore only two days after and still a little red, i mean its scabbing over, well not scabbing but like its not bleeding or oozing pus all over or anything so i assume the hole is healing nicely...


[i dont know if this matters, but i went to a place where they used the hollow needle to take out the skin and meat, rather than just poking a hole with a needle]

I am fourteen and and not over weight but I have a stomach and It kind of pokes out well not kind of it does!!!!... my mom says i will loose it if I stop eating everything but the truth is I cant, I will eat and then an hour later I'm hungry again...!!!? I need some Ideas!!!!


I know exercise but I'm still trying to work on my eating before I do that.... I think It will help me.... What do you think?

I have this cold thing going on, first it started off about 4 days ago with a soar throat. Then after the soar throat came a nasal drip thing. Then a stuffy nose with the nasal drip. And now i have a nasal drip thing, a stuffy nose,a small cough from congestion, and i have very watery eyes that are constantly watering and it looks like i am crying every second! my eyes feel very heavy and red too. Any help, support, or ideas whats going on?! and plz dont say i need to go to the doctor... i know i can already do that. i want to learn something new. thanks!

I'm curious...I read on the printout from the pharmacy that one of the side effects of vicodin is "impairment or loss of heraing if taken for long periods". I've never heard of this....anyone heard of or know anyone this has happened to?

I have migraines. They make me vomit, that "aura" of lights in my left eye, can't stand noise/smells/light. Have tried the strong pain meds but doctors are so reluctant to prescribe them. I have a really bad one about once per 3 or 4 weeks. Regular meds for migraines such as Imitrex, Maxalt, Axert, Midrin, Frova, Depakote, Inderal, Darvon, Darvocet, etc will work for maybe 1/2 hour but then it's back to this crushing pain. I've had MRI's, CAT's, tests ..........all of them but they find nothing wrong and say I just have a migraine problem.

One thing that does help is to stand in a very hot shower with the water spray over the left eye where the pain is located. It helps for about 20 minutes but obviously I can't stand in the shower all day.

In class today one of the my friend just sorta passed out. His back was arched and his legs stuck strait out knocking over the desk. He was still in his chair just kind lying off the side of it. He shortly regained concenciouness and seemed fine. He said he bumped his funny bone and felt like a burning thing in his arm. Sooo, anyone know the cause of this?

I've read MAJORLY conflicting answers on this, ranging from yes because your body absorbs calories once their in your mouth and it gets faster at absorbing them, to no because no caloric intake occurs and your body breaks down nutrients further down the digestive track.

Someone please PROVIDE EVIDENCE from an outside source as to whatever your answer is. Do you or do you not absorb calories if you chew something or just hold a gulp of a beverage in your mouth and them spit it out? (Not throwing up though)

I sweat every single day of my life. I'm 16, 110 pounds. I use antipersprent deodorant everyday. But, during the day, I sweat and sweat like crazy. I always have to bring a jacket where ever I go becuase I'm embarrassed about my wet sweat marks under my arms. When I'm cold or hot, I still sweat.
Why am I like this? How do I stop sweating? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
