My 17 year old daughter takes darvocet on a regular basis for lupis. Is it safe to cut these in half and give her half the dosage. When she takes the full dose she cannot function at school so half of a tablet seems to help her not be so drowsy. She takes 650 mg twice a day.

Here I am, single, male, 36 1/2, 175 pounds, 5 feet 5 1/2 inches, body mass index approx.24-28 1/2%, history of heart trouble on my dad's side of the family...

Doc says I should lose at least 35-50 pounds by April(he expects me to look as skinny as supermodel Kate Moss in three weeks, and thereafter[from now on])...he expects me to weigh at least 130-145 pounds by then...

Will ANY diet-exercise program work???...

Will I get so cranky and angry at the world(my mother and other relatives included) that if l continue to lose weight, I will die of heart failure?...

Any dietitians/weight-loss experts can answer this one too, not just ordinary folks...

Thanks...and try to wish me luck...

In January, I got into a routine of eating properly and exercising extensively. Since the first of the year, I've lost 12 pounds of fat, and I've noticed a significant improvement around my abdomen and sides.

However, in those same areas, I have a strange, uncomfortable sensation, almost like a friction burn. Is that normal during weight loss? If so, is there anything I can do to get rid of the feeling? It's not terrible or anything, just irritating, and I don't really want to put up with it for 30-40 more pounds.

I have a tooth in the front (beside my 2 front teeth) that is too far back, and makes my smile really crooked. Would it be cheaper to get a veneer (or whatever else) to replace that one tooth rather than get braces?

I've haven't had period in 7 months, I went to the doctor about 4 months ago and I'm not pregnant but Testerone and Prolactin levels are high. So she had me get an ultrasound and and MRI also a contrast one of my pituarty gland. They all came back normal. I have been getting very dizzy lately, getting migraines. gaining weight, and getting lots of hair on my face and stomach. I'm crying for no reason at all and am very depressed. My doctor said that I should see a specialist but they haven't called to schedule appointment and its been 5 days. Its seems like forever. I just want to find out what is wrong. I was on Birth conrtol for 5 years and I had a normal period with no wieght gain or bad side effects. What should I do?

both medical studies done, both can be found on the internet. One refuting the other. And then you get M.D.'s to come along on Yahoo Answers and proudly condescendingly make their opinion as "fact" about this subject. What is it?

What are some alternatives to having a pelvic exam? I know that certain things (i.e. a pap smear) cannot be done in any other way, however, I flat out refuse to have one. I will not be budged on that decision either, so please, don't try. :)

This is arising now for the first time because I'm having a period lasting almost 20 days after some steroids I was on (see: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ah22rHxbvaC8IdPJuAHtHmPsy6IX?qid=20070201081256AAoZ4Lx for more details). I have a call into my primary, but I know that she will just say to go to the GYN. I'm still in my mid-teens too, so it's not like I'm 30 years old and I've never had a pelvic.

I'm wondering what they'll do as far as tests for a long-lasting period after steroid use since I'll refuse the pelvic. Blood tests? What about ultrasounds to see the ovaries and the uterus?

Thanks a bunch!
