If you can't afford buy each of the herbs in it in the bulk (get get in 1 oz sizes at health food stores like whole foods or wild oats or other) and mix and make a tincture of it. See directions online. try to get organic herbs. but if you can use his..you might also try increasing soy. (miso, soybeans, tempeh, TVP,soyburgers, etc but not soysauce)

I've tried hormones, natural products from health food stores, and the only thing that helps me with the periomenopausal hot flashes is using an ice pack or very cold towel around my neck and lying down for a few minutes to cool off. Honestly, I haven't found anything that works all the time, but my doctors tell me when I go through the 'real thing' that there are some things they can prescribe that will definitely help with these darn hot flashes. Unfortunately, they did not elaborate as to what these things are. You can always try misting your face lightly with cold water in a spray bottle. Sometimes that helps me cool off some. I have heard that Soy products tend to help out some with hot flushes, and even though I drink a juice that has soy in it, I still have some hot flushes, but it seems like I don't have quite as many of them as long as I drink a considerable amount of this juice every single day. I haven't tried a soy supplement from the vitamin or health food section, but it might help out some. This Soy based juice I drink is made by V-8 and it comes in several flavors. I hope you happen to find something soon that works for you. I know that this can be miserable for many women, especially during the summer time.

Yes there is help. There is a product called Estroven, you will find it near the vitamins, supplements. This product has Black Cohosh in it which zaps those hot flashes. If you shop at Walmart, they have their brand of Estroven, it is the Equate brand and will be right next to the Estroven, it is half as much in cost. Estroven runs about $10.00 for a one month supply, the Equate brand $5.50. Both work well. Also, you can go to the health food store and buy Black Cohosh separetely, but I found it easier to hit Walmart. This will also help with any dryness you may have experienced during sex.

My friend had been getting hot flashes, esp. at bedtime and thru the night. She tried taking the homeopathic remedies belladonna (30x strength) and pulsatilla (30x strength) before she went to sleep. No flashes! So I would definitely recommend taking these about 1 hour before you normally get them, or if they're unpredictable, try this combination 3 times a day for a week.
Good Luck!

I have used soy products to great success. Any kind will do, but the easiest for me is to take soya lecithin in gelatin capsules. Soy milk has too many calories for me, but tastes good. Soy nuts are a good option - I keep a small bag of them in the car for when I travel. Its a source of protein that helps me for when I don't need to stop for gas.
My sister uses daily exercise by swimming for 30 minutes every morning. She says its the only thing that helps her.
I say keep trying things until you find out what works for you.

I recently read that Black Cohosh was thought to be ineffective, but I thought that it helped when I took it. I used to take Soy and Black Cohosh both, and it took a few weeks before I thought I saw any improvement. Good Luck, I have found that the symptoms decrease in time.

There are natural hormone replacement options (I don't know their names) but stop them when you don't need them any more. The potential cancer causing effects go away after use stops for about 3 months.

Estroven, which fisherwoman recommended, is NOT good for you as it contains kava kava. If you research it, kava kava has been found to harm the liver.
Just thought you'd want to know!
