Here I am, single, male, 36 1/2, 175 pounds, 5 feet 5 1/2 inches, body mass index approx.24-28 1/2%, history of heart trouble on my dad's side of the family...
Doc says I should lose at least 35-50 pounds by April(he expects me to look as skinny as supermodel Kate Moss in three weeks, and thereafter[from now on])...he expects me to weigh at least 130-145 pounds by then...
Will ANY diet-exercise program work???...
Will I get so cranky and angry at the world(my mother and other relatives included) that if l continue to lose weight, I will die of heart failure?...
Any dietitians/weight-loss experts can answer this one too, not just ordinary folks...
Thanks...and try to wish me luck...

It does not take advice from a pro. It's all common sense.Eat fewer calories than you burn.Eat more lean protein and fewer carbs and the carbs you do eat should be simple, like fruit.Stay away from processed food with shortening and oils and lots of salt.If you cut out about 1000 calories a week ,thats good for a pound. You have to eat breakfast ,reasonable lunch(DO NOT SNACK) and light dinner at least 3 hrs before bed and (No midnight snacking). Exercise a minimum of 1hr in the morning as this will stimulate your metabolism for the whole day and walk or jog for 1/2 hr after dinner. Work out should be a combo of C.V. and weight training . 6 days a week 3 on 1 off 3 on. Count calories consumed ,without knowing your activity level( I'm assuming LOW) your caloric intake should probably not exceed 2000-2200 per day. And be aware Alcohol has lots and lots of calories. P.S. vigorous exercise releases endorphins, dopamine and serotonin, all of which make one feel good (happy).****WORKING OUT MEANS SWEATING FOR AN HOUR**** not just taking a stroll around the mall.

First you will never look like kate moss, cuz she is a female and you are not! To lose weight doesn't mean you have to lose a certain amount of weight in certain period. How about you lose weight slowly? Dont set a target how many pounds to HAVE to lose in a certain period. Just schedule your daily routine and eating habit. Like try to go to gym 3 - 4 times a week. Weekend if you can go for an outdoor sport, even walking along the beach is a good weekend exercise. Eat a lot of veg., if you got a few choices, drink water instead of alcohol or soft drinks! If losing weight makes you cranky and angry - you are NOT on a right track!

Have you tried Weight-Watchers? It works for me. I think I know what you mean by being angry. Food is a pleasure and a comfort, and nobody likes to be deprived of that. Diets take time and patience. Who cares what the dr. expects? You can safely lose 1-2 pounds a week. As you see the weight come off, you will start to really feel good about it. Don't do this for anybody but yourself. If you feel the dr. expects you to lose more than you want to, a loss of 10% of your body wt. will give you lots of health benefits. Make that your first goal, and if you want to lose more when you get there, fine. If not, it is your body. Good luck.

I can guarentee you, you can lose wieght, but it also depends on your motabolism. It make take some time, but take these steps.
1) Stop eating fast food-fast food contains chemicals to get you addicted to their food and also causes obesity.
2)Run or walk everyday-If you do this you can possibly lose a few pounds a week. If you walk, walk for 45 min to an hour. If you run, run for about 20 to 30 min(jogging is fine). But always, I repeat always put saran wrap around your stomach(you sweat more).
3)Get addicted to a sport or exercise you can be comfortable with on a daily basis(on the long run it'll keep the wieght off)
4)Read books on health(this will better yourself on the long too)
5)Go get the book called (NATURAL CURES by Kevin Trudeau)
Do all these steps first and you WILL see results. By that time, you will be naturally be healthy mentally, physically and spiritually.

you can get him to lose weight, but since he is so large, it is important to take it slowly. A couple of years ago, my 30 pound cat went down to 15 pounds in a year. He was soooo much happier that way. He was also complaining about back issues. There is low-calorie food for cats. Get it. Feed him on a schedule - no free-feeding. keep the food tightly locked away - cats have ingenious ways of opening cupboards. a lot of my cats like veggies. Try him on various winter squashes, which my cat loves. any veggies will not add pounds. And play as much as possible. a laser toy really makes them run. He will be cranky til his stomach gets used to smaller meals, less calories. Be understanding and tolerant. In the end it is worth it for you to live with a happier cat and for him to be healthier. the stomach jiggle is just fat.

I've been on the South Beach Diet and I work out at the gym. If you feel cranky just go to the gym. My boyfriend hasn't told me Ive been mean or anything so try it. The gym is a good way to get rid of stress and the South Beach Diet has been working for me and my family. My Dad needed to lose 20 lbs and he lost it in almost 2 months. Go for it!!

Im 6'2 245lbs Male. 20 years old.
Im still fat.....but
But about 6months ago I was 305lbs.
All I started doing was running alot...going to the gym....eatting better, and just try to not eat horriable food..
So I lost about 60lbs.....but still 40 more to go......
So if you eat right, and exercise and hour a day 5 days a week.....it does work.
Just eat 3 meals....500 calories each....and 2 snacks inbetween.....150 calroies each....
thats1,800 calories a day.
Bu for your snacks dont eat cookies or cake...eat fruit like oragnes grapes or strawberries...
Breakfast I have a bowl of oatmeal glass of water.
Snack- Fruit
Lunch- PB&J on wheat bread.
Snack-Soup
Dinner-Grilled Chicken and green beans...
exercise as much as you can...and drink only water.....you will lose the weight...
just the hard part is sticking to eatting healthy....I been doing a bad part of it latly, thats why I still have 40lbs to go.....

Good Luck Hun :)
I heard on the news this morning that when you are on a diet, you're depriving yourself of something that makes you happy so you should replace it with something else (healthy/non-food) that makes you happy. Treat yourself well. It's going to be a challenge, but try to welcome it as a good thing for your future. Jogging and drinking plenty of water makes a huge difference.
Replace sodas with water and seek a dietitian.
Oh--and slim-fast, and similar items only work as long as you take them, so try to do it without suppliments.
