I just returned to the working world after 9 years of illness and it sure wasn't easy. My new job doesn't know of my illness, nor will I be breathing a word. I found it difficult to even pass the 2-wk training session, never mind the job and adapting to new policies and procedures. I am a little on the slow side (possibly due to the number of ECT/meds I have been on). But, I've been there for almost 12 mos. and every day is a challenge.

Will they be able to combine a person's dna with organ tissue dna to grow organs that will not be rejected by the person's body?

And what about using stem cells from ones own body to repair damaged organs? I saw a show on the science channel about a guy in England who was given only about 2 weeks to live because of congestive heart failure and at the time of the show it had been 2 years later and he was doing great. If I understand correctly, they injected stem cells from his own body into his heart.

I would say with all the increase in science and technology, they should be able to do it already. That is, unless the pharmacetical companies, FDA, and medical establishment won't let it happen because of loss of profits..

Is this chart http://penissizedebate.com/images/doc/penis_size_preference_chart1.gif right about what size penises women prefer? I know everyone prefers something different, but does this seem to be accurate as far as what the average woman would prefer?

Do you have sympathy for people who commit suicide over severe depression/addictions/mental & physical handicaps/loneliness, etc.?
If no, do u believe they should keep living no matter how unbearable, unendurable life is to them?

i just had my baseline mammogram done and they found calcifications on my left breast. Dr. said it looks benign now but wants to repeat a mammo on my left breast in 6 months to see if it grew in size. what exactly does "calcification" mean? is it a bad sign that my left breast has been hurting lately? doc says this has nothing to do with breastfeeding? I know I should discuss all these issues with my doc but i just want some peace of mind while I wait for my appointment. thanks everyone..

People are getting bigger and it's costing the NHS & the country. Bigger beds, new equipment, breakages & numerous obesity related illnesses. But why should people who take care of themselves pay for those who don't? A common criticism of immigrants/travellers is that they get all the benefits without paying for them. Overweight people require more medical care/special equipment but they don't pay any extra. They also use more fuel when travelling due to the increase in weight which is in turn more damaging to the environment & the road. A persons tax code could be worked out using their weight or BMI This would also act as an incentive to loose weight

I was diagnosed last year with type 2 diabetes and have been treating it with metformin (currently 1000mg/day) as well as trying to eat healty (low-carb, high protein) and staying active.

Since diagnosis I have lost 25 pounds (quite easily without a lot of change in my habits - I was already quite active and eating well), but my BS numbers have not really improved, in fact they seems to be rising, despite doubling my medication. In the morning it is usually about 130-150, and 2 hours post meal it is often over 200, and occasionally over 300. I am starting to wonder about it being type 2 since I seem to not have any of the risk factors or indications...

I'm 23, weigh 125 pounds (I'm 5'5"), I'm active, and have absolutely no family history.

Anyone have any ideas? thanks!

When I first started with my black depression and was hospitalized, I was visited by my supervisors from work, friends I hadn't seen in years (with flowers), and family.

But as the years creeped by, the depression and hospitalization remained, but the people disappeared. Luckily I have a wonderful spouse who has stuck by me through it all, some family flew the coop due to uneasiness with mental illness. They were in fear of their children. As for the close friends - bye - bye.

This is just so unfair. If I had cancer or heart disease, would they have fled? Probably not...no...definately not.

im 19 and am 5 10'. im quite slim. but being tall makes me soo uncomfortable. i was soooo preppy when i was younger but my first bf would slag me off saying i had the body of a man. this started me to hate myself. we ended up finishing. im now with a lovely man who is in a band and he is too quite tall. he says he loves my height and body. most times when i go out shoppping the women who work in there or other customers make fun of my height. they would say im sorry but our store dosent carry clothes for your height. i seriously feel like a freak. i was bullied at school as i was always taller then most of the boys. and other girls would spit at me and just push me about. my bf says girls are just jealous of me cos im tall but i now this is a lie. when i was 17 i got the offer to do some portfolios for a small modelling agency but turned it down. when girls at my school found out things got worse. am i too tall as i hate my body so much. is there anyway to make myself smaller

Anyone shed any light on this? After some recent blood tests to ascertain thyroid function, my doc told me everything was normal, so I forgot all about it. However, I've since looked into what the normal ranges are for the tests she did, and now I'm a bit concerned about something.

My TSH is 0.9 and I read that the normal range is 0.3 - 3.0, but my Free T4 is 16.8 and I've read that the normal range is 0.7 - 2.0.

Am I missing something here? Has my doctor made a complete oversight or am I worrying about nothing?

I went to see her about an inability to lose weight, despite exercising two hours a day and eating like a saint. I also have PCOS and have recently been put on Metformin, although wasn't on any medication when these tests were taken.

Can anyone confirm that the ranges I've specified above are correct, and if so, what might such a high Free T4 result actually mean?

Cheers and thanks.
