Niacin has been used for years to treat high cholesterol. Flaxseed oil does not yet have enough good research to merit a recommendation for this indication.
See Dr Atkins' Vita-nutrient Solution for a discussion of flush free niacin and other natural remedies for reducing cholesterol levels.
Good luck

Natural Cholesterol Guide?

I've never eaten a lot of cholesterol because when I was younger I pretty much only ate chicken and fish, and then was vegetarian for about 10 yrs .. I ate a lot of eggs but I had my cholesterol checked while I was a vegetarian who ate a lot of eggs and cheese and they said it was low, in a healthy way. I recently went through a period where I had to eat a lot of meat and I felt like my cholesterol became terrible but I dont remember if they checked it when I was at the clinic--I still dont feel quite recovered from the drastic increase in cholesterol (and also being vegan for awhile I think caused me to have too low a cholesterol consumption, which also felt unhealthy) . ..but I think the best way to reduce it is to just not eat it, or eat very little of it. Personally I think pork meat is the worst for causing cholesterol problems and would eliminate it and beef if you can (or at least beef that has a lot of fat and cholesterol in it like burger meat) .. . .

Yes, but not very much. Soy lecithin works better than anything I have ever tried.. Far superior to Lipitor or anything else for that matter. It is a natural emulsifying agent and has no harmful side effects.

It can. But you will also want to get some omega acids from animal sources as well, the vegetable sources are not complete.
