Since school started (a couple of weeks ago), I've started sleeping for only 2-5 hours a day. I feel a little tired, but that's about it. Then on saturday, I woke up at 11am after sleeping at 11pm on Friday! Is there some sort of sleep debt? I've started swimming, so I don't really have time for anything until 8 o clock... I have homework, tests to study for, and a BIG test out of algebra2 thing on november... what should I do? How do you organize your time? what if you don't really have time a school either? Does shortened sleep result in lessened iq, irritation, and memory? The problem I have been having is less concentration during math, and I'm usually very good at calculations and logic.

I went to the doctor a few days ago and was diagnosed with a UTI. I wasn't able to get my Rx filled until this morning. I've only taken one of the pills so far and because the infection has been sitting and growing I'm very uncomfortable. I feel like I have to urinate badly all the time, even if I don't. And when I do it HURTS. Is there anything I can do to help with the discomfort while I wait for the meds to take effect? I have to wrk in an hour or so and any help would be great.

I'm 5'7 135 lbs. I know I'm pretty thin, but having been around a lot of model looking people in my life and I feel huge compared to them. I think it's also because I've always been tall. Growing up I was especially tall, and my best friends and even my sisters are much shorter than me. Now I am 22 and I don't feel good about the way I look. I also have pretty bad acne, which doesn't help. I feel like people are always looking at it when I'm talking to them, even though I know it's probably not true.
I eat really healthy, and enough, but I still feel like I need to lose weight. I feel like if I could just be a little more confident about myself I'd have the energy to exercise more and get toned, which I think would make me feel a lot better than losing weight would. I'm also doing really badly at work. I don't have much confidence in any area of my life anymore. I also feel tired all the time. What should I do?

I tend to get strongly emotionaly involved while watching TV movies, TV series and so on. Sometimes, when the movie end, I feel strong depression like... everything is gone, I want to be part of the film and then I dream about being put back to film.
I have I normal life.
How to cure this?

I have had a very unwell feeling for the last two days. Fairly often I feel a something that i can only describe like a sharp 'dizzy' feeling or like a mild electric shock type feeling in my head.
I think it has something to do with alcohol abuse. I have been a acute everyday drinker for a few years now and I had stop drinking only in the last 2 or 3 days. Since then I have started to have this pain / discomfort.
Is there something more wrong or do i need to worry about this? I feel nausea as well and have been spitting up blood today.
Are these the symptom of acute alcohol withdrawel or something else? Apart from going to the Dr next week, what is the best thing I can do to feel a bit better?

Alternative medicine, for the most part, was either developed ages ago by those searching for new and better ways to treat sickness or invented just recently by those who beleive faith and the power of the mind has a far greater ability to heal than western medicine.

Given this, the fact that possible side effects to alternative medicine need not be advertised, the fact that modern doctors have had hundreds or even thousands of years to improve on those that came before them, and that if the power of the mind really does have such a strong effect simply beleiving in the medicine a doctor gave you would be at least as good as chanting... Is there any proof that alternative metter is better than traditional western medicine? I may already have an opinion, but Im willing to change it if someone gives a convincing enough argument.

I have been diagnosed with a staph infection. I have noticed also in the last 4 days I have been having to urinate MORE than once an hour, even waking in the night. I always go a lot. Today my urine turned a bright almost flourescent yellow/orange and I was wondering if staph could show itself in the body that way, or if purhaps I have a UTI or bladder/kidney infection as well? Any SERIOUS advice would be greatly appreciated.

Before I started my new teaching job, I was not out of shape, but I hadn't been super active, either. My classroom is located upstairs and the stairway is about 15 to 18 steps.
I started work on Aug.14th. It was tough at first with sore legs and heavy breathing after each climb. As I got stronger, stair-climbing became easier. Best of all, I began losing weight!
However, my workload increased (paper grading, lessonplans, etc.), and I have begun toting a backpack (loaded down with books) as well as my purse and lunch. In addition to that, I roll a wheeled briefcase (also loaded down), which I also carry up the stairs.
This past Friday, I worked late and noticed a slight knee pain in the back of my left knee each time I went up the stairs. Before leaving, my knee had begun to swell and was very painful. It is most painful on stairs. Slightly painful when walking.
I was curious to know if anyone had an idea of what problem might be and/or what treatment might be involved.

I have a bad knee that has given me problems since I was 11. I'm 46 and started back exercising. I'm overweight and need to lose, I know that, but when exercising this past week I've injured my old "football" knee. (I've previously dislocated it twice and was dx'd with chondromalacia a long time ago). I just basically avoid stairs and don't put a lot of strain on it, avoid sitting in one position where it will lock up on me. What type of knee brace would be best? There are a LOT of different types. Any one brand better than another?
