I have been diagnosed with a staph infection. I have noticed also in the last 4 days I have been having to urinate MORE than once an hour, even waking in the night. I always go a lot. Today my urine turned a bright almost flourescent yellow/orange and I was wondering if staph could show itself in the body that way, or if purhaps I have a UTI or bladder/kidney infection as well? Any SERIOUS advice would be greatly appreciated.

Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) will make urine turn a beautiful fluorescent yellow color. Frequent urination could be a sign of a urinary tract infection especially if there is a lot of discomfort or burning sensation while voiding. A culture or urinalysis is needed to diagnose a UTI. Staph is not normally a cause of this kind of infection, but it is a possibility. Talk to your physician and get his opinion on whether you need this test.
Good luck!

There are several meds that change the color of urine. It is most likely due to the dye in the vitamin. Staph will not change the color to yellow-orange and neither will hematuria (blood in the urine). You haven't adequately described the symptoms of a UTI (bladder and kidney infections are UTIs). In the absence of UTI, increased urination, amount & frequency, is usually caused by increased fluid intake. Increased fluid intake is encouraged with use of antibiotics. It is remotely possible that the Gen-real (?) has a diuretic component but I'm not familiar with this vitamin. Discontinue the vitamin and your urine color should return to normal. Unless you actually present with signs & symptoms of UTI, you should not be concerned.

Did a doctor diagnose you? If not, I would say it's a UTI. Drink lots of water. I mean LOTS. Drink cranberry juice or blueberry juice. The color of your urine indicates blood. You need to call your doctor to advise you. If it's really bad, there are medications he/she can prescribe. In the meantime, force yourself to drink lots of water. It will help clean you out & help with the burning.
