Healthy weight loss tips

* Take one pound at a time
Don’t get overwhelmed by how much weight you need to lose. Try to remember that "losing 15 pounds in two weeks" is nothing to celebrate. It is important to realize that the more quickly weight is lost, the more likely the loss is coming from water and muscle, not fat.

Since muscle tissue is critical in keeping our metabolism elevated, losing it actually leads to a decrease in the amount of calories we can each day without gaining weight.

Fat loss is best achieved when weight is lost slowly. Strive for a weight loss of no more than 3-4 pounds per week. One pound of weight is equivalent to 3500 calories.

* Set Reachable Goals
For instance, if you know you need to get more exercise, begin with a manageable goal of, say, walking 10 minutes a day that you know you can achieve. Then build your self-esteem by achieving the small goals you set yourself.

The same logic applies for losing weight.

* Stay off the scales
Don’t get discouraged when your progress seems to be slow according to your bathroom scales. They do not provide a true measure of what is going on with the body.

If exercise levels are adequate (5-7 days a week), you may be putting on muscle but losing fat, thus losing inches even if you are not losing pounds. It's always a good idea to do several body measurements to have a second objective way to monitor progress.

* Stay focused on being healthy, not thin
# Many people become more successful at long term weight loss when their motive changes from wanting to be thinner to wanting to be healthier. Change your mindset to think about selecting foods that will help your body's health rather than worrying about foods that will affect your body's weight. The Food Pyramid offers a basic outline of the types and amounts of food you should eat each day to give your body the nutrients it needs for optimal health.

* Fat Free?
We've known for some time that limiting high fat foods in the diet can be helpful with weight loss. That's because fats pack in 9 calories per gram compared to only 4 calories per gram from proteins or carbohydrates. To many, the message to limit fats implied an endorsement to eat unlimited amounts of fat-free products. Just to clarify, fat-free foods have calories too. In some cases fat-free foods have as many calories as their fat laden counterparts. If you eat more calories than your body uses, you will gain weight. Eating less fat will help you to lose weight. Eating less fat and replacing it with excessive amounts of fat-free products will not.

* Drink plenty of water
Drink eight glasses a day. Water is a natural appetite-suppressant. Nettle tea is a great weight-loss tea as it supports metabolism and has diuretic properties.

* Reward yourself
# Each time you reach a goal, such as losing 5 pounds, reward yourself with a gift or a massage.

* Seek help if you need it
# A big key in long term weight control comes from receiving encouragement and support from others. Find a friend to lose weight with or you can check to see if groups such as Weight Watchers, or eDiets offer programs and resources in your area by clicking the links. You may also wish to check with your local hospital to see if their registered dietician conducts group weight loss programs.

* Watch your portions
With the advent of "supersize" meals and increasingly huge portions at restaurants, our concept of normal serving sizes is a distant memory. Be mindful of the amounts of food you consume at a sitting. When necessary, divide your food in half and ask for a take home bag. It is all too easy to be a "plate cleaner" even when served enormous portions. Learn to pay attention to your hunger level and stop eating when you feel comfortably full, not stuffed.

* Eat your food slowly
Did you ever notice that thin people take an awfully long time to eat their food? Eating slowly is one method that can help take off pounds. That's because from the time you begin eating it takes the brain 20 minutes to start signaling feelings of fullness. Fast eaters often eat beyond their true level of fullness before the 20 minute signal has had a chance to set in. The amount of calories consumed before you begin to feel full can vary significantly depending on how quickly you eat. So slow down, take smaller bites and enjoy your food.

How To Get Toned Stomach

What really helps, and I don't mind telling you this because it is not unhealthy, is to cut out all carbohydrates. Just like the South Beach Diet says. If you do that, the first thing that disappears is your gut. You know what carbs are, everything sweeened, cookies, ice cream, chocolate, candy, soda, but also bread, rice, potatoes, and corn.
I am sorry but I will still make some "health" comments. Do not cut out protein (eggs and meat), milk, and veggies (al kinds). South Beach wants you to cut out fruits for the first two weeks, but I'd introduce them soon after those two weeks. Also start eating whole grain bread and brown rice, and small amounts of potatoes and corn after two weeeks (not fried, and without butter or sour cream).
Also, do abdominal crunches - about 50 - everry day. When you do them, put your hands behind your neck, make sure your elbows stay back, and stare at the ceiling, not in front of you or on your legs or your stomach, so you don't wreck your neck or back. Your knees are bent on the floor, and you try to raise your chest as far as you can while staring at the ceiling and keeping your elbows back.

The diet is too much to handle becaue you're making yourself uncomfortable. If you make yourself uncomfortable with dramatic lifestyle changes, you wont stick with it. I think what will work best for you is one or two small changes at a time. That is how a lot of people do it. My mom used to be big as the side of the house and she started with small changes. First she gave up candy bars and after a week or so she gave up cheese burgers then after another week or so she started walking a little bit.... and just gradually keep adding those small changes. Shes fit now.

I think you could benefit a lot with some nutrition or fitness coaching. Most people need that because they want to change and have all the drive to do it and stick with it, but just don't know what to do or how to start.

Small changes make all the difference. I don't know what you do all day but one small change could be to just start taking stairs instead of an elevator... or if you have whole milk with your cearal, switch to skim or 2% just things like that. Or, if you eat breakfast as school, instead of having the biscuits and gravy, have fruit and oatmeal or whatever else is available that's a better choice. Or stop having ketchup with your French fries (its all sugar). It really does work.

I've spent lots of money on diet clinics and stuff that use drugs or put you on a really strict diet and the results never lasted because it was just too dramatic and I went back to the same bad habits. The only things that ever let to lasting resuts was the small changes that I stuck with... like parking far away from buildings and walking through the parking lot rather than parking as close to the door as I could... I've even joined extreme fitness classes like crossifr and never stayed with them because it was just too much all at once.

One thing you can do that you wont really notice is don't eat everything on your plate... leave like 20% of it. At the end of the month, all that food really adds up.

Two weeks or a month are Not much time, lets get started.

First start by getting up earlier than usual. Around 5:30 am to do some of you workouts. Getting up early shocks your metabolism because the body needs more energy to get going. Right? This will start your system on the road to weight loss. That early start with about 10 minutes of stretching. Have a cup of coffee to get the blood going also.

Do all the situps you can. Just do them. 15 or 20 whatever, we don't have alot of time to work with. Rest 1 minute repeat, do this for 6 sets. Already you are breathing hard and feel worn, because the body is working extra hard at being up earlier and then going right into exercise. If the early morning hours lets you get your cardio in, go ahead and do it. 30 minutes. Diet. Cut all current meal portions in half, just cut them in half, nothing fancy or complicated, CUT IN HALF! Cut out all bread products, all gravies, candies, chips, night snacks,etc. If you crave at night eat a banana, other fruit or best a non-fat yogurt. There are some tasty ones out there.

In the evening do another 6 sets of situps maxing out each set. Cardo again. The trick is to stay with getting up earlier. Yes its hard, thats why it is so effective. Why do you think the Army gets up so early, it is intense training to the max.

I believe you will make it, best of luck to you, stay tough!!! Get mean!!!

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

don't eat after you have dinner eg. after 7pm. if you must eat then eat an apple or something healthy and natural. in general avoid excess fat like too much fried chicken and hamburgers and fast food in general. do 20 sit-ups/ crunches, in the morning before you have a shower, and do 20 more at night before you go to bed. as time goes by the more your body can handle the better. Good luck.. it might take a month or so to start seeing some results. you have to be constant and determined.

I was shy, I didn't want to be the centre of attention, I didn't like getting my picture taken. Yes, I had to speak in public, and that was because it was for my job. So I would get up there and I would speak, .but I really didn't want anyone to really be looking at me.

Since I've lost my weight, it's more like look at me, look what I've done. And I feel good about myself. I bought a new wardrobe. I get up there, I speak in front of people, and it's fantastic. It's the best thing I've ever done in my life.
