I just gave birth to my daughter on the 11th of this month and I had what my doctor called a star cut and episiotomy which he used only his hands/fingers to rip me open during the process according to my husband, I wasnt paying attention at the time considering. Is that legal to use your fingers to tear a woman open for labor or is it procedure to have to use scissors? He also was the one who stitched me up and because of too much pain I went back and found out he left a gause inside of me that was there for a week and 2 days, which following I got a UTI, dont know if the bacteria from the gause might have been what caused all of this? If anyone knows anything about all of this please let me know if things were done right or if I should report any of this if it is serious or any form of malpractice. Thanks!

In the last year or so I have noticed -- actually HEARD -- all kinds of snapping and popping primarily in my knees when I stand up, or clicking in my shoulder when I lift my arm. There is no pain whatsover, but some days I am so "noisy," I wonder what is going on. A friend, also in the 50s, said it was cartilage and advised to "check it out at the doc's." But the "doc" (actually a physician's assistant; military retirees have problems with health care services as this never-ending GWT rages on) didn't even acknowledge it as a problem...of course I had about four or five ailments to complain about that day.

What this old warhorse would like to know is, what is this all about? Does it signal something more serious down the road, and what should I do/mention to a caregiver about it? I do carry too much tonnage (ca. 205 pounds on a 5'10 1/2" inch frame, I would guess), but don't want to give up good eating!

One day I'm afraid I might hear the sound of a pencil breaking in my knee!

I have missed two periods. I have done two home pregnancy tests. Nothing. Why does this happen to people? I know friends who have had this happen a few times in their lives. I am 35 and this is my first time seeing this.

Preferably the practice used in Britain.
A nursing perspective would also be appreciated.
Any references to medical material to back up answer would be useful.

I recently reduced my caffeine intake from 4/5 cups of tea/coffee per day plus the odd cola, down to caffeine free tea and coffee, with the odd cola. We are trying for a baby and thought this would help our "chances" as caffeine can cause miscarriages. I usually have a 30 day cycle, but this month i was due on the 20th and i still haven't "come on".
I went to the doctor today as i have had about 10 days of cramping, pregnancy tests are all negative. She could not find any cause of my cramping and did extra urine tests to see if there were any other problems (all negative). It wasn't until i got home that i realised i have been "caffeine free" for about 2 weeks. Could this have caused my periods to be delayed as i know caffeine withdrawal can affect you in many ways. I had a few headaches but nothing else till now. Its really getting me down as i want to start charting again and my temperature is all over the place! She has told me to come back if my period doesn't arrive soon...

It is true that your vagina smells bad if you don't wash it. But how and why would it smell bad if you do wash every day. Case in point... my b/f's brother says he can't go down on his wife because it smells bad. (how is it my business? I dunno maybe I'm the next closest chick to him.) Anyway I suggest that she take a shower everyday and douch. I guess she does and still smells. I don't know what else to suggest. Any takers?
