what is the name of those wheel-and-rail things that hold drawers up and allow them to slide freely? and What kind of inexpensive wood would be good for a strong desk?

If you had a choice, which would you choose and why?

I'm hearing really good things about sergers, and they seem really suited to the kind of work I want to do-makeing clothing out of patterns.

But can they do all the things a sewing machine can? Like basic mending, bringing up the hem, ect? Any downsides? Are they more expensive?

Yeah,I'm pretty new to sewing =)

My Great-Grandmother knitted Christmas stockings for our whole family. The all used the same pattern, and the only difference was the name and date on the stocking.

I am looking for someone who could knit the same pattern for my two daughters.

Does anyone know of a single place i could post to that could get a response?

I have been to craft.com to see if i could post something there, but didn't have any luck.

Thanks!

John

My family and I all made our own purses last night and thought velcro would be the best way to close the bags. The rest of my family's is made out of plain thick canvas material and mine is made out of woven rattan material. I'm running into problems attaching the velcro to the rattan and am not sure how to on he canvas. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance

I have a soft rubber kewpie with light ink stains on it, is there a way to wash it off? Perhaps with chlorine bleach? Or at least lighten the color of the stain

I'm looking for the best ways to color fire. I've done copper tubing to make fire a greenish-blue, but I've heard you can make purple and white fire...Are there any other colors? And what do you use? And other than the obvious dangers of a fire, are there any other unsafe things that could happen? It would be helpful to get them not as the actual chemicals themselves, but as a household or easy to find item.

I was in Thailand on holiday (got back today) and while I was there I bought a few old coins. There was one which I later regretted buying because I thought it looked like it wasn't real currency. Just now I was looking through my 'Collecting World Coins' 9th edition when I saw coins that looked roughly like it. I skipped a bit further and found the exact coin - valued at $400 for Extremely fine condition. I was very pleased but am still a little suspicious. It says its supposed to weight 26.8g - and on my crude scales it is definitely between 25-30g. I am hoping it is not a replica and I enclose pictures in the hope that someone on here can verify it for me or tell me somewhere else I can check it up properly. Sorry about the quality of the photos, does anyone know how to take better close-up ones?
Thanks in advance.

I have a Singer Quantum XL-6000, and I am looking to get a 4mm to 6mm hemmer foot. I was wondering since my machine is a snap on foot if I could use a Husqvarna snap on hemmer foot or any snap on foot for the machine. I cannot find what I am looking for in stores or at Singer's website. I am wondering if it isn't possible to use another machine foot, if there are any good online stores.

i live in a 3 bedroom trailer with a husband and 3 kids and i'm working on making myself a hobby area for when the kids are napping or i'm (on rare occasion) alone. i do flower arrangements and knit, sometimes i'd like to have a nice solid surface (other than the kitchen table) to use for these hobbies. with very little room i'm trying to get ideas to make myself my hobby "room." so if you can post good ideas and pictures to get me going, that would be great. thanks

I use Rit dye on the stovetop and get exceptional colors and patterns in my home tie-dyes. The problem is, no matter how well I rinse (before and after removing the bands), by the time I use detergent to wash it, the colors bleed together, and tinge the white, so that the piece is muted instead of brilliant. Is there a pre-bath I should use to help set the colors? I've tried rinsing under running water, instead of in a tub, until the water runs completely clear, and this helps a little. Still, when it is washed, it bleeds onto itself and is no longer as attractive. If I hand-wash the piece and rinse quickly under running water, again, the colors still look nice, until it is laundered. I've tried heat-setting in the dryer and ironing the pieces before laundering a second time, but all to no avail. How do I keep my tie-patterns distinct and bright?

I have found a seller who 1.bumps up S+H charges from the figure stated but only after a buy is confirmed 2.sends out goods in a condition that is nothing like those shown in his photos 3. Is abusive and threatening if he is questioned. His feedback is 99.8% positive but he has a bad reputation amongst folks who have used his 'services' and yet Ebay seem unwilling to act.

I'm looking for the life sized one that you make at home. It has a small opening in the mouth area, which you can see through, and a hole on each side for the arms. Any links or anything?
Also, any Pac-Man related costumes would be appreciated. Thanks.
