What are you sewing - crafts, clothing, quilts, draperies, baby clothes, something else?

The first problem with your question is that you haven't provided enough information. Beyond that, well, as Kacky put it, on free patterns you probably get what you paid for. Of course, a free pattern may be a good starting place for you to develop your own design.

Another a laugh option to manage the sides is with material paint! Sew the layout onto the material, and trim off as a lot of the brink as you competently can. Take a coordinating colour of material paint (Scribbles company is fine, however I like the best way Tulip company comes out of the bottle larger) and draw a skinny line simply on the part, hiding all of the hard stuff. Let it dry in keeping with the instructional materials at the label. While I would not suggest this for couture clothes, and even your Sunday pleasant, it really works for day-to-day stuff. It works specifically good with denim and different heavier materials, and makes a a laugh part cure for patches.
