elaincrafts.com has the most info ive found on the specific knots, it brought back my memory of several knots and ive been busy tying since i found it. Knotting hemp jewelry is macrame and has nothing what so ever to do with crochet so you cant use crochet instructions to get anywhere with macrame, but the website she showed is good for the very most basic stuff, elaine shows more involved things , cant imagine a hemp hat, belts you could make with heavier cord and do it about 24 cords wide or more, we used to use jute back in the hippy dippy days when this stuff was really big. I used to have a shop and teach macrame as well as make things for sale.
