I would advise the double fishermans knot, as you find animated on this website: http://www.animatedknots.com/doublefishermansscouting/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com
If it makes to big a lump you can also use a single version, shown here, without instructions how to tie:

If you want to tie a reef knot (Americans know it as a square knot,) try the version with the extra twist, as shown on this last site as surgeons knot.

It is hard to say without seeing the type of elastic cord. You might use epoxy or super glue, or if you must tie a knot, try a blood knot, but when you tie it, try to keep tension on the cords so when you relax it, the cords expand and wedge the knot tighter. You might be able to use the "Rosenthal Bend/ zeppelin knot which is easy to look up, and easy to tie. Just tie the Rosenthal, and work it tighter and tighter.

i like the birds thought! otherwise a widespread zombie may well be super, only use some old clothing, stain them up slightly then use white glue and makeup for the zombie look itself. once you're accessible at sewing you are able to make a 'promenade' gown out of an old sheet, slightly dye etc. or consistent with probability a tub curtain. If not, and additionally you relatively want the promenade course, attempt a 2nd hand keep.

Do you have access to a sewing machine? I sew mine. Sometimes I wrap a strip of fabric around it and sew right through the fabric.
