A friend asked me and I said no because it begins a dependency on milk. I think we need to think long and hard about ramifications before we do such deeds. If she is not careful she will raise a meat eater or a vegetarian, which is almost as bad.

P.S. I have book coming out soon with all of my research and theories. I will et you all know when it is going to be published so you can get a sneak peek at it! I know you guys will love it.

I just found out that the local organic farmer I buy my vegetables from has been using cow manure to fertilize his vegetables. I have been consuming vegetables that have been fertilized by an animal... How wrong is this? Should I approach him about this? I feel betrayed.

So, I'm thinking about going vegetarian. Not vegan, just vegetarian. I want to cut off on meat.

First, because I often feel guilty eating meat, knowing what the animals go through to end up on my plate.
Second, because really, meat is starting to disgust me. I don't know why, but it's just so unappealing to me sometimes.

There are a few factors that get in the way of me going veg though.
I'm only 14, so obviously, I still live with my parents. Sometimes, I can't really control what's for dinner. Also, I've been a meat-eater all my life; suddenly letting go of it seems hard, though I said it often disgusts me. I don't know, it'd just be awkward to give it up, as much as I really want to.

So, does anyone have any advice on what I could do to make it easier for me to go vegetarian? Or what to tell my parents? Thaaanks.

I am a vegetarian, primarily for environmental and cruelty reasons. I'd love to eat seafood if the fishing industry wasn't as damaging to the environment. Is there cruelty free and environmentally safe seafood?

As some of you know yesterday was my first day of being a vegetarian and I have been doing good. My Parents (no one for that matter) knows that I am a vegetarian and since I don't eat meat anymore I am going to have to tell them real soon since the majority of the meals my family eats consist of meat. How do I tell them without causing problems? Me and my mom are already on bad terms since we don't share the same religious beliefs.

I donate a lot of blood, and now that I'm a vegetarian my iron levels might not be where they were. I eat spinach and beans, so that helps, but I was wondering if I get any extra iron from canned foods. The cans are made of steel, which is mostly iron, and then heated to kill germs and what not. Usually when things get heated, it is easier to mix/exchange with other substances. I live out in the middle of nowhere, so most of what I eat is canned, and I don't want to take extra iron if it isn't necessary.

P.S. Don't give me any crap about processed foods not being as healthy. There is no health food store within 40 miles of me, and preservatives are not used in canning since the food is in a vacuum.

I've been looking to buy some nutritional yeast, but I can't seem to find it in the stores I've visited (publix, walmart, local health food store). I've got some grocery shopping to do later today, and was wondering if anyone knows where I should be looking for it?

She seams a nice girl a little naive and easily led maybe but she has the intelligence to come and ask questions and you lot treat her like an animal. She must be shocked that people with such high ethical/ moral standrds can be so maliciously offensive. I put it down to your diets but then no one wants to talk about that do they? Her question about onions is a good question and has some basis in truth and deserves an answer. stop treating her like she is sub human you self centred pillocks

I am a 29 year old male, 5'11 medium build. I have always been on the most part had a healty diet but I just recently became VEGAN and have ben for about 2 months. I eat NO animal products NO MEAT, NO DAIRY, NO SEAFOOD, NO CHEESE and diets consist of grain, fruits, vegetable, nuts, soy ect. I have been taking B12 supplements as well. Today I had to use the bathroom. #2 of course and I started shaking and got light headed, lips got numb and started to sweat just a little. After I went to the bathroom I went and checked my blood pressure for the hell of it and it was like 110/70. Before I became VEGAN my pressure was normally around 135/80 which was pretty good still. Now that my pressure is 110/70 is that too low for a man 5'11 185 lbs with a thin/medium muscular build. Is my pressure is 110/70 was my symptoms from possible low blood pressure and if it was, is my low blood pressure from my extreme VEGAN fatless diet that consist of nothing but vegies fruit, grain, and soy?

Should we eat onions and things like onions (garlic, scallions, leeks, etc). I was told they are irritants. This is a very serious question as I really want to know the answer to this question. If you know the answer, then great. If not, then please don't respond with a negative remark. I am really looking forward to getting some good well thought out responses. No hatemonger responses please.

Whenever it is discovered that I do not eat gelatine, people tell me I may as well since it is just a by-product of meat production, so animals are not killed simply to get it. Is this true?

Regardless of whether it is or isn't, I still won't eat gelatine. I would just like to be able to rebut these aforementioned people if possible. Thanks for your help!

I originally came to the V&V section to support other people on their veggie journey. However, I have been seeing so much negativity here, that I honestly don't want to come here anymore. Is it possible for people to get along and not fight? Can we respect each other's views?

I really want to become a vegetarian. My problem is this month, I'll be fasting a lot, so I'd like to know what foods should I eat when I'm not fasting to help maintain my energy and keep me strong for the rest of the day that's vegetarian? I want to start being one, and I'm not much of a cook, so simple recipes are appreciated. Thank you.

Have any of you vegans out there ever visited with a nutritionist?
If so, was the nutritionist helpful in creating vegan meal plans?
Did the nutritionist check your vitamin levels to see that you were getting enough nutrients?
Was the nutritionist critical of your vegan lifestyle?
Did you feel better after seeing the nutritionist?
