Do you go to your local hardware store and tell them they are crippling our water reserves because they don't stock low flush toilets?

Do you go to your local hairdresser and tell them they are destroying the ozone layer with all the hairspray they use?

Do you go to your local taxi firm and insist they switch all their vehicles to biodiesel because the high levels of emissions they produce are creating a polluted atmosphere?

Marco Pierre White is a business owner. He can run his business into the ground not serving vegetarians for all it matters. Why on earth would someone start a business doing something they love, and then have to change it to conform to other people's views? If he's popular and successful, there's absolutely no reason! Sorry Michael H, guessing that about 8-10% of the population are already veggie, a 4% increase in vegetarianism per year would have us all veggies within 20 years. I don't see that happening.

If you want to make MPW change, then you need to get legislation passed that bans restauranteurs from having a menu that does not include a meat free dish. But the UK is not a communist country, free trade exists. You can pressure all you want, but it's only going to alienate people more. I often choose the veggie dish on the menu because I like them, and I love veggie restaurants. Try a more positive approach, like opening more restaurants that suit your needs, and attract people to them, rather than trying to force your views on other independant parties, which only gets you laughed at and ridiculed.

As a former chef I can somewhat see his point. Now, if he put vegetarian dishes on his menu I don't see why it should be an issue but you really can't just refuse to serve a whole group of people because it doesn't suit you. One thing that chefs can't stand, however, is when a customer comes in, asks for something on the menu and then completely changes it so it doesn't resemble the original dish. If you're allergic to onions, fine, say so, but don't change 5 or 6 ingredients on the menu and expect it to be okay - it's not. If you don't like the ingredients in the dish then order something else. Contrary to what so many self centered people think, the customer is NOT always right. As the chef we reserve the right to refuse to change things or even serve you.

Our local resturant refuse to serve vegetarians.....after 3 years of running the place from a starting position of a sucessful resturant they are finally selling up because the place is permanently empty.

If i were as bad as some people on here say, i might smile.

Vegetarianism is growing by 4% per year over the general population growth. Only a truely daft business person would ignore that

It's his choice. If he doesn't want to cook for vegetarians it's up to him. I don't see what the problem is. If you're a veggie go somewhere that caters to veggies. Or is there a pressure group trying to have legislation passed that all eating places should have to serve veggie meals if requested? It wouldn't surprise me.

Don't watch it now, since Gordon left, but as to not serving Vegetarians, surely his menu does not cater for them so why should he change his menu just for them? If someone wants to be vegetarians fine by me but please stop moaning that people won't serve your meals in an obviously meat eating restaurant.

hey!
i havent watched it,as a vegetarian i would not EVER consider going to a resurant which thinks it is ok to serve animals gosh if i met some of these people
(e.g gordan ramsey)i would give him a good slap round that ugly face of his and tell him he belongs in HELL's kitchen!
i would not give him my service so he wouldnt have to refuse me lol
why would a vegetarian (assuming they are against cruelty to animals)go to a place that starts animal cruelty weird?

I don't watch Hells Kitchen anymore, this year everyone seems to be walking off the show, as to Marco Pierre, he isn't and never will be as good as Gordan Ramsey

good for him, he should be able to serve what he wants.
if you are offended be what someone serves or eats don't have dinner with them. if it means you go some where else, that's your right. Ever notice how many more steak houses there are compared to vegan places in the world. You are able to eat where you want, and to open a business if you want, but you do not get to force people to conform to your way of thinking.
