I bought some broccoli at the supermarket yesterday, today I noticed it wasn't as firm as it usually is. Its a little rubbery when I try to break it apart. It looks perfectly normal - a nice dark green color.

Me and my friend are really bored and we to go buy cheese. The only problem is...we love ALL cheese and we don't know what to buy. We used to be cheesacholics and now we need only one type of cheese to stick with. And yes, there is such thing as a cheesacholic. Don't make fun. It is a serious problem. At one point we were so obsessed that we couldn't leave our house because we thought everyone looked like cheese and we tried to eat them.

Which are you and why? I was a vegetarian for 2 years. I did it for a healthy diet and think I need to go back to that.
So do you do it for health, moral or other reasons?

I've been a vegetarian (including no poultry or seafood or eggs, unless they're in cookies and cake and stuff. Also, I'm not vegan) since I was born 17 years ago. If I wanted to stop being one and try some meat, how do I go about doing so? Will it have critical effects on my body? Will I get sick if I eat meat? Should I start eating meat slowly? Or can I just go out and have a large juicy streak? How should I stop being a vegetarian?

I have been searching for something like this for absolutely ages,,, never knew it actually existed and had a name!! Ive seen all the various vegetarian options in the shops and as my daughter is vegetarian it is of extra interest to provide her with a varied and well balanced diet. So while there is quite a selection to be bought, I am always wary of many of these products, because, while they may be "vegetarian" in the sense they contain no meat, they are still processed foodstuffs. Too often I see a great list of e-numbered additives, which in my mind, detracts from the basic product and makes me question if in the end they are a healthy alternative at all. Now I have all these brilliant recipes on how to make it myself, how to cook it and all sorts of other interesting tips.
My question/s is/are (sorry, I know I get "wordy") Once I have made a batch of seitan, how long does it keep? What is the best way to store it? Can it be frozen, cooked or uncooked? Thanx in advance any replies

Then if everyone turned to be vegetarian what would you do with the over population of animals in the world. from cats and dogs and deer and zebras to chicken and cattle.
I would really like some input from any one that thinks eating meats is crule and is bad to humans

thank you very much

For your digestive tract to adjust to becoming a vegan? I have had constant diaheria and loose stool for weeks now. I have at least 3 -4 BM's a day. Is this normal? I feel great otherwise.

My family says that I am missing certian nutrients by not eating meat or dairy or fish. I feel much more healthy since I stopped eating animals or animal derived products. Are they worried for nothing?

milk you get no other form of calcium?? beans, rice, legumes, veggies, fruits, nuts and soy all have protein. is there a reason that people choose to over look that? and though i cant think of many foods off the top of my head that have calcium, i always try to figure out if people choose to ignore the fact that you can take calcium supplements, or they just live under a rock and dont know they exist. i'm sorry, i know this is a rant. but i just want-no, need- people to realize that life goes on with out meat or animal products in general.

USA, January 26, 2006: Cathie and Harold Winters like a good steak. "We're a meat eating family," Cathie said. But their 12-year-old son Dean is not interested. When mom and dad eat steak, he has a protein substitute. Dean has been a vegetarian since he was in first grade. "I love animals a whole lot, and I really don't care for meat that much," said the then 6-year-old Dean. The Winters, like many parents of vegetarian kids, worried at first that their son wouldn't get enough nutrients without that piece of meat on his plate. "At first, I kind of fought it and tried to get him to eat meat. But he was pretty solid about his convictions," said Dean's father Harold. According to the American Dietetic Association, vegetarian kids can be just as healthy as other children. "There is no need for concern. People can be very healthy eating a vegetarian lifestyle," said registered dietitian Dawn Jackson Blatner, Having a vegetarian kid can be an adjustment, but Cathie says with all the protein substitutes out there, it's not that hard. As for Dean, "I really don't feel like I'm missing out on anything," admitted Dean. The ADA says the number of kids who are choosing vegetarianism is growing and many children may experiment with a partial vegetarian diet.

what is a person called who is primarily a vegan though may still consume or use animal products only if the animal died of natural or accidental causes or if the animal produced dairy or eggs without cruelty or death to it or its offspring?

I've seen several innocent vegetarian questions reap insulting comments from answerers who disapprove of the lifestyle.

If you disagree with it, why force your beliefs on those who don't? Are the insults really necessary?

What are the risks and benefits of being a vegetarian who eats milk, eggs, and fish? Which nutrients are removed from this diet (without vitamin supplements) and what other health risks are involved? Does it increase health? How?

My 12 year old daughter and I are vegetarian. We do not eat wheat, soy or egg, due to severe allergies. My daughter has friends over alot, and I am running out of ideas of what to feed her friends. I do not want to purchase commercial, chemical laden stuff. Not only do I not want to be exposed to it, but I wont support companies that are making unhealthy foods. Obviously, her friends are meat and toxic food eaters. We never mention anything about our ideas, but I know the kids are getting tired of eating the same few things. They love when I do a spagetti fondue, but I have done that to death, as well as pizza. I need ideas where I can stick to my beliefs, but still give the kids something where they dont feel deprived. So many kids these days dont know the goodness of a veggie. I served a veggi tray with dip at a recent slumber party, and two of the girls asked me what a baby carrot was!! They tried them and loved them! shocking! ideas please?
