I do every once in a while... not enough to actually eat a dead animal though. I am so used to eating anything I want, I forget sometimes that some things aren't edible. When your are veggie long enough, it is an odd thing to think that people are still putting dead bodies where food belongs.

So I guess I don't forget I am veggie; I just forget the world isn't.

Well, I'm vegan, but really consider myself to be a "human" trying to eat as humans are supposed to. When I go shopping, I'm not looking for "vegan" food per se, I just read the labels and if there's anything in there I don't eat: food colouring, meat, fish, preservatives, artificial stuff, etc. I don’t buy it. What I mean, is that the word vegetarian or vegan is not on my mind all the time. I just am who I am and that’s that. There’s plenty of vegan stuff out there that I do not eat simply because it’s full of chemicals etc.

We are really into good tasty food in our family, and sometimes I totally forget that others are still eating sh*t food on a daily basis. I guess it's more about forgetting that everyone else is not like me and doesn't know what I know. I am always amazed at people's total ignorance. I keep thinking, "how can someone my age now know this, or that?" but realize that I've been living a totally different lifestyle from them for the past 17 years while they continue eating in their seemingly “childish” ways (no offence to any children out there).

Additionally, no, I have never started to dig into a roast beef at a friend's home and totally forgot that I don't eat beef. For me, that would be like digging in the dumpster behind the mall for food and forgetting that I'm not some bum on drugs. I think that people who eat such things are really not thinking straight (or are completely ignoarnt as I used to be).

I've been veg 4 years and vegan for two.
1 year after becoming veg I had a nightmare
about being trapped in a room made of meat.
I took sausage out of the wall and ate it.
Does this count if you forgot in a dream?

Are you kidding? Unless you're a vegetarian because you think it's the cool thing to do, like it's a fad or something, you don't forget something like that! That would be like a Christian forgetting they believe in God!

The day after I decided to be become a vegetarian, my little sister has this beef jerky stick without realizing it, I snatched it away from her and bit it. She says I thought you were a vegetarian. My dad pulled into the nearest gas station where I threw up everything that I had just eaten. It was pretty disgusting. Now I never forget, everytime I see meat it makes me cry or I have this horrible screeches and screams of the animal I NEVER forget.

Once, when I was first becoming a vegetarian. I was cooking some meat for my mom and I instinctivley put it in my mouth. I just did it by habit.

But I havent eaten any meat since.

It's possible you might not think of it because it's the norm for you. I've forgotten to eat more veggies :-)

What are you saying? I'm not, am I? Is it possible I am and have, as you suggest, forgotten? That would be horrible! And what, pray, should I do with the eviscerated dead animal currently bathing peacefully in a turrine of red wine, root vegetables & herbs in my oven?

My God, what have I done?
