Because I dont have any in front of me on a plate right now.
lol at that "meat rotting in your system" thing. If that freaks you out so much, then I wonder how you felt when you learned that our intestines are packed with bacteria, regardless of diet.
I would also like to point out, that I would hate being associated with people like the person who posted under me. Now, some vegetarians have legitimate reasons and couldnt care less if you ate meat or not.
"Lovely" there starts out great, but then has to go on that meat hating frenzy. "It takes a small person to kill a defenseless animal" eh? Really? What strong logic...

I stopped eating meat years ago because I didnt like the taste or how it made my body feel. It wasnt about the animals though I love animals of course.... I got my proteins in dairy and beans etc... I now eat poultry years later and fish as I needed more in my diet. I do not eat red meat or pork as I dont like the texture or how I feel afterwards. Not offended by others who eat meat and support those who choose not too...

I don't eat meat every day. I have red meat maybe once a month because it's a good source of iron. But every day, there are better, leaner protein choices like fish, beans and soy.
It's nice that you don't want to contribute to animal suffering. I'd rather expend my time easing human suffering. Thank you for caring.

My reasons for not eating meat is that God made plants for people to eat not animals. Also meat stays in your body for days rotting in there taking forever to degest.

I'm a veteran. When I was overseas, I was surrounded by death. Every day, death was everywhere. Be it my own people, the bad guys or people just trying to live their lives that got caught in the cross fire. When I came home, it didn't end. My friends were still over there dieing. I've been to more funerals in the past year than most will go to in a lifetime. I was overwhelmed by death. I grew to hate it more than anything. The straw that broke the camels back was when a kitten I was hand raising from birth died in it's sleep. That was a very personal turning point to me. I now respect life so much that I don't want anything in my body that was killed. I also don't want to live off of anything that's life was taken away in terror. It's hard to understand where I'm coming from here but to me, it's a very personal decision I made and am very happy with it.

My reasons are the same as yours. My heart and gratitude go out to you and other veggies and to anyone who is even considering a single meal without animal products. I have had some support. I started mostly because of the overwhelming scientific evidence that repeatedly supports a veg diet to reduce or prevent so many common diseases. My story is more common than most realize: My father died of a heart attack when he was 48. I was 13 with 2 younger siblings and my mom had to do it all. I have also heard insults and ridicule. I have heard many religion-based and other types of comments that say animals don't suffer and/or that animals are here for whatever we humans want to do with them. To me, that seems over-simplified, pro-human and without compassion. Although I am human, I try to practice compassion and respect for all nature. Of course I still impact nature, but I try everyday to remind myself of my values and my commitment to them. I am 45 and have been a vegetarian for about 25 years, and a vegan for about 15 or so (And of course I eat flavorful food, get plenty of protein, and have a cholesterol level of 136! They are not guarantees, of course, just benefits along the way.) I send you the best of wishes!!

I don't like the taste. It's kind of disgusting to think that what I'm eating is similar to my own flesh texture. I also coudn't avoid to think that "this meat on my plate use to eat and walk around too". (That's just what I think, I don't care about carnivores' opinions or reasons).

at first I gave it up because of learning that it is injected with wheat and soy ingredients that I am allegic to. But on doing more research on it, I found out how inhumanely food animals are treated and was outraged. Further more they are fed a toxic diet of chemicals, grains, pesticides, antibiotics, etc. and that ends up in us. I also learned that the conditions they are raised in are highly unsanitary. Yuck.....good ol veg and fruit for me. I dont miss it at all, and find it rather disgusting that I ever did eat it.
