I've been a vegetarian (including no poultry or seafood or eggs, unless they're in cookies and cake and stuff. Also, I'm not vegan) since I was born 17 years ago. If I wanted to stop being one and try some meat, how do I go about doing so? Will it have critical effects on my body? Will I get sick if I eat meat? Should I start eating meat slowly? Or can I just go out and have a large juicy streak? How should I stop being a vegetarian?

Yes, my parents are vegetarians, and so are their parents, and I'm sure they can trace ir back several generations....
@skinny
I probably won't completely stop, but I don't want to die without ever having tried a hot dog and whatnot.

Thank you for your concern. I understand where you're coming from, but the food chain is real. It's not something that people who eat meat make up for their reason for eating meat. But don't worry, I'll try not to eat meat on a regular basis. I just want to try it. Nothing wrong with that. I will try to be stay mostly vegetarian, but only because of the horrid treatment of animals in the meat industry, not because they have to die.

BE VERY CAREFUL!!!
I would start out with some white meat, like chicken or turkey. Go buy the good organic stuff. Your body is already going to not be happy with the meat, you don't want it to have to deal with the hormones and other chemicals your not used to. Find a nice recipe and cook it and call over a friend. Try a small bite of the meat, and then share the rest with your friend so that you don't waste! Wait a few days or weeks, until you feel comfortably, then try it again.
Be very cautious though. I know a guy who was raised vegetarian, and had become vegan a few years ago. He went out to eat and ordered a meal with out meat. They accidentally got a piece in there and he had to be taken to the hospital. That is the only time I've herd of it being that severe, but you should still be cautious.

I know alot of ppl aren't gonna be happy w/ this answer, but I gave up vegetarianism after 8 or 9 years (3 of them as a vegan) because I was broke. It's easiest to start with eggs, then chicken or fish. I'm not sure if it'd make you sick, but it probably won't if you take it slow.

A good old fashioned bacon sandwich has often been known to be the downfall of many vegetarians....... and probably the best & simplest introduction to meat - try it with a bread roll, bacon fried until it's gone crisp on the edges, add french mustard. wash it down with a mug of English style hot tea (e.g. Twinings English Breakfast tea bag, milk, sugar, etc).
After that try moving up to something like a shop bought chicken sandwich or a hamburger, or a frozen dinner that goes in the microwave (usually have meat in slices, rather than huge steaks, etc)......... before graduating up to steaks / pork chops / lamb chops / chicken legs / turkey legs, etc.

I would suggest U stay vegetarian.. meat is gross awful bloody horrible tasting.. I don't like it.. but had to eat the horrid stuff while growing up. My parents told me when I become adult then I can eat what I want. I asked my dad when a person becomes an adult and he said 21. I thought I was stuck eating meat that horrid stuff until then but my Aunt Scollie she helped me not eat it when I became 19. My parents mostly served pork & in Seventh Day Religion that is a no no meat.. it's considered unclean.. as pigs nearly eat anything! Suggest U try fake meat first! Meats are full of bacterias like ecoli if not treated properly. Meat isn't a safe item! Also if U never ate meat before it would most likely clog your arteries cause your system isn't use to it!

You've most probably already eaten non-vegetarian food, without realizing. So absolutely nothing will happen to you, except in your mind.
Go for it, start slowly if you prefer - depending where in the world you live, there are loads of excellent foodstuffs that won't even make your taste buds aware of your change.
Try some non-veg soups first, and with some chicken or fish.

Slowly integrate it back into your diet, in small amounts. Your body needs to get used to digesting those kind of proteins.
I had a friend who did this, and it took her about a year for her to be able to eat beef without having stomach aches.

chew and dont swallow just savor the juices of the meat . When ever I have steak thats what I usually do and then give the pieces of meat to my dogs. unless its bacon then I dont share. I wouldnt suggest starting out with a steak since it might mess with digestive system a touch and you;ll end up with some stomach craps for a minute but thats about it.. You wont get sick though. Well then again thats not really true either since eatting to much red meat can cause you to plug up your artieries and you could have a heart attack some day when you are older. Chicken if it isnt cooked all the way can give you some tummy problems but it wont kill you but eating raw hamburger if its not cooked all the way can kill you. You might not even like the taste of meat anyway. You could always start out with a couple of tacos from jack in the box. The meat in thier tacos is really soy but it tastes like meat and looks like meat so you can psyc yourself out thinking you are eating meat. Its healthier if you stick to the veggies. But meat does taste so good.

Go to a nice resaurant and order a Filet Mignon, medium is good.
There is no better piece of meat than this. Your body will love it!
mmmmmmmm baby! whoooo hooo!
Your body does not need to "ease into" getting back to chowing meat. Just start with the best and you'll keep coming back.

Start slowly, but seek out sources of meat that are raised cleanly (i.e., grass-fed beef, pastured chicken and eggs) and organically (no pesticides in feeds, no hormones, etc.).
