I used to eat meat but after seeing the way they treat the animals at animal farming, i don't want to contribute even 1 penny towards that kind of animal cruelty. Meat free over a year, and i'm proud. I wish you would consider too. Thanks.

I am not a vegetarian, but lately I have been craving vegetables over meat. RIght now I feel like it's a healthier choice for me, plus I am a broke college student, so buying lots of meat is not always an option. I don't like soy, which I know is an option. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Every time i tell people im a vegan they look at me like im some kind of grotesque freak. lol ive read alot on these yahoo answers and some people even go to the extreme of calling vegetarians/vegans things like
"anti-american"
"anti-militarty"
"dirty hippies" (lol)

I'd like to know what is so offensive about not eating meat, or not eating anything that comes from animals? (or contributes in any way to the death and/or exploitation of animals?)
i understand we all have our own opinions. but i get alot of crap from people for not eating meat. i dont make fun of meat eater, so why must meat eaters make fun of me? lol

There is absolutely nothing cruel about milking and using dairy products, this is what we call a symbiotic relatiionship. It would be cruel not to milk the cow, for cows are in pain everymorning because their udders are full of milk, they love to be milked.
There are only 2 real reasons to not consume milk
1. You are Hindu
2. You want to eliminate all animal/human relationship, only PETA is as ******* extreme to do that, it is completely unnatural to eliminate that relationship and would never happen in reality

I was born a vegetarian and have never liked meat. (I even used to spit the meat chunks out of my baby food!)
Now I want to be strictly vegetarian, but my dad won't let me because of his old-fashioned ideas. He is very ridiculous and stubborn and thinks that if I eat what I want and be vegetarian I will be considered 'eccentric'.

Any suggestions? One idea that I had is to offer to cook all of my own meals.

Has anyone else had a similar situation? What did you do?

I am 13 years old and have been a Lacto-Ovo vegetarian for 1.5 years. I am a year- round competitive swimmer, year- round dancer (pointe, ballet, jazz, hiphop, tap, lyrical) seasonal soccer player, seasonal basketball player, and a runner. My parents are concerned about vegetarianism affecting my sports ability, because since I've been a veggie, I have'nt dropped much time in swimming. They are afraid I don't get enough protein. I am very very strong for my age and am in good shape. Can someone please tell me about vegetarian teen athlete nutrition needs and easy ways I can reach them without having to buy special vegetarian foods ( ex. tofu, soymilk, etc.) I live in a family of meat-eaters who don't support me very much and would not buy me special things. Also I would like to know how much being veggie affects sports. I feel so much better now that I'm a vegetarian, and I wouldn't like to have to stop because it's affecting my sports ability. Thanks! Your help is greatly appreciated!

I've been working different types of vegetarian foods into my children's diets slowly each day for the last week. I've replaced ground hamburger in spaghetti with Morning Star Meal Starters crumbles, replaced bacon with veggie bacon strips, etc.

The children are 12, 8, and 4 years old.

Does anyone know a good way to do this without causing conflict with each child as it if different with each different age group......

As I stand my ground and want these children to adapt to healthier eating habits and choices.

There are vegans and vegetarians. But are there such extreme and strictest vegans that don't respect people who are meat-eaters? In other words, having hatred against non-vegans. Or the dislike to make friends who are meat-eaters.
