Just tell them that many people have many beliefs. They shouldn't involve God in this, hence perhaps you might not believe in God or have a different faith. 'What God intended'. God intended for humans to be born, live, and then die. That's life for you. They shouldn't say, "...he wouldn't have made them taste so good". What tastes good depends on your preference and taste buds, not what God intended. If you ask me, this is exactly what I would say:

"Don't involve God in this. You may want to eat meat, so be it, but don't try to change me. If I want to be a vegetarian, and believe that it is wrong to eat meat, then let me live my life. You have your beliefs, and I have mine. Let's leave it at that, shall we?"

And if they can't accept that, they aren't your true friends. Truth hurts, but truth be told, so does a lot of things. And if they aren't willing to accept what you want to do...find new and better friends.

Hope that Helps, :-) .

Just go through the old testament and look up some of the citations where god gave permission to eat animals and look at his warnings about doing it. You could also get nastier by citing his orders to the israelites to kill women, children, newborns and to rip unborn fetuses from the womb and dash them on the rocks. I actually know a kid that does this, the bible he carries with him is loaded with bookmarks so he can whip right to the correct spot.
Seems to work for him.

Well, Personally I wouldn't worry about it. But if you really want to say something back you could try:

Animals only taste "good" because people cook them. Flesh does not taste good raw as god made it.

Human flesh supposedly taste like pork, which some people think tastes good. Obviously this is no reason to eat people. Why is it a reason to eat animals?

Tell them that Hannibal Lechter would say the same about humans!!!! And those people with that disease that makes them want to eat paper? They're probably baffled as to why the rest of us aren't doing it. It's a matter of taste.

They only think it tastes good because they're used to it, and have been raised on it.

Besides, regardless of whether we're supposed to eat meat or not, the factory farming industry is sick and cruel, and if that's the only option we have to buy meat, I'll pass. Even if you proved to me that I am supposed to eat it, and that it's healthier if I do, I still wouldn't give my business to the sick people who run slaughterhouses. So they can say all they want that God intended for us to eat them- it just isn't the point. Tell them that.

If they want to bring religion in to this then say this. God is not the one who makes animals taste good, humans are the ones who make it taste good by cooking it and giving it flavor. Then ask if they think "real" meat (fresh raw and bloody) with no spice or sauce, tastes good, cause that is what meat is until we modify it. "Real" carnivores seem to take delight in eating raw bloody meat, so why do most humans have trouble with this?

Ask them to please respect your decision to become vegetarian and you will respect their choice to eat meat.

good luck!

Tell them about how that stuff that "tastes good" is going to kill them in revenge.

Besides, if you believe in the whole Adam and Eve thing (I don't), you will take notice to the fact that he gave the fruits and vegetables to eat, the animals for companions, and then after they ate from that tree and sin started, then meat eating began.

Ask your friends to imagine if they would still feel that way if a shark ate them and made that excuse the humans were made so tasty that the shark HAD to eat them.
For them to say that to you is a totally ridiculous and pathetic argument against vegetarianism.

If you really want to say anything them, tell them that if humans were meant to eat meat, they would have big canine teeth and would not have to cook meat. No carnivore cooks his or her meat. Humans have to cook meat because they are not really meant to eat it.

Also, if you want to make a reference to the Bible, point out how they only ate fruits and vegetables.

I personally believe that a vegetarian diet is unhealthy, I'm pretty much of a health nut and have studied nutrition ( for my own benefit)
and have researched a lot on how different metabolic types require different diets...including animal fats!!
I don't know if you are vegetarian due to your concern for animals or because you feel that it a healthier way of life!
You might want to do a little research into nutrition!
Here is a pretty good site on the subject....I'm not trying to change your way of eating or your lifestyle, just giving a little advice!

Well I would tell them that "I repect your choice to eat meat, why cant you respect my choice not to?" If they make fun of you all the time then they arent your real friends. You could also tell them that their teasing and rude remarks hurt your feelings. Be honest with them, and if they are your real friends they will stop.
