the internet is a great source of material. I recommend
http://www.vegetariantimes.com/
local health food stores in your area may also have some information useful to you.
I you have Seventh Day Adventists in your area they sometimes have cooking classes. (you don't have to go to their church to attend classes).
I was a vegetarian for many years and felt wonderful, and was very healthy too, however it takes a lot of work and planning.

This is how I was too. I really liked meat but I watched all those movies of people treating cows and chickens terribly. Then I thought about how selfish it was to have animals die just to have more variety in our meals. At first it's a little hard, just stay away from meat, and after a while you won't even think about it as being an option.

- As a transition, at least, find which veggie meats you like. Usually veggie ground beef in tacos, Sloppy Joes, or spaghetti sauce tastes like the real thing. Pretty much the same for veggie chicken nuggets. Gardenburger Riblets taste amazingly- frightenenly - like spare ribs, but a better bet may be LightLife Smart BBQ, which tastes like pork barbecue, takes literally a minute to prepare, and is lower in salt than most frozen meat or veggie meat products. Veggie bacon is a good cholesterol-free, low-fat substitute for bacon.

- Homemade veggie burgers are easy to make, and are a hundred times better than the frozen ones. Search the net for "recipe veggie burger."

- Legumes add healthy and filling fat and protein to meals: chopped walnuts in salads, pecan halves in rice pilaf, brazil nuts in homemade brownies, black bean and corn tacos, lentil stew, and so on.

- Broaden your horizons with ethnic cuisines: There are many delicious vegetarian Indian and Asian dishes, for instance.

- www.tryveg.com has lots of good info for new vegetarians.

- Learn how farm animals (including hens and dairy cows) are treated and you will likely stay committed to vegetarianism.

I would talk to other vegetarians and see what they eat, but I would highly suggest you speak with your doctor before you do this so you wont get ill. There are nutrients that our bodies cannot survive without, and it is important to know what foods you will need in your diet, so you wont become ill.Check out chat rooms at yahoo and find a health food store and they can tell you what products are strictly vegan that you can eat.

take it slow. it was hard for me too.one food at a time. here is how i did it: frist i got rid of porkm.i didn't like pork,so it was easy.then i slowlygot rid of the meats that i liked from least to most.it makes it easy.if you still live with your parents, talk about it with them. don't be afraid of the reationyou get.if they say they are worried about your health, tell them about tofu ,and other fake meats. hope it works out.

Start eating beans and nuts daily (if you don't already). I mean dried beans like refried beans, black beans, chickpeas, lentils etc.
