Here's a link to check out. There is good information for vegetarians about B12. I think you should talk with your mom about whether you feel confident you can get enought B12 in your diet from food sources. Also, you should discuss any risks from taking B12 shots with your doctor. I wish you good luck.

B12 vitamins aren't necessary but they are good
You could eat Brown natural honey and get the B12 vitamins that way. But if U want to go the vegan route then eat lots of Bananas and other fruits. Also the Vegetable most closet to meat
that is beets. Myself I'm a vegetarian I tried being a vegan but I like cheese too much and vegan is too expense there might be a cheap way to do that but vegetarianism is fine for me!
Minerals are more important than vitamins!

You do not have to take any vitamins. I just do to keep my grandmother from bugging me. B12 is an important vitamin for vegetarians and vegans to take because most foods vegetarians and vegans eat do not have much of it in them.

Vegetarians do not need to take B12 because they are still eating animal products, eggs, dairy. Vegans however, either need to supplement B12 or makes sure to eat adequate amounts of B12 supplemented foods.

Yeah...I would take them. I mean what harm does it cause. I take the womens vitamin by GNC. It has everything that a growing vegetarian woman needs. It can be hard to get all the nutrients that our bodies need, I would literally be eating all day long to get all the nutrients that I need. Plus the vitamins have iron, and I am slightly anemic so that helps me too.

Good luck and try this site for info on vegetarian nutrition

Goodness, is it that hard to take? You need B12 if you are a vegan. If you have eggs or dairy regularly you don't need it.

Well, I just turned vegetarian a few days ago, so I don't have to take them...yet. I'm sure I will have to if vegetarians before me did.
