DOES ANYONE KNOW ANY BRANDS OF CHOCOLATE THAT DON'T CONTAIN STEARIC ACID?
Stearic Acid—It may sound less gross than "lard," but stearic acid, which often rears its ugly head in chocolate and vitamins, comes from a fatty substance taken from slaughtered pigs’ stomachs—or from cows, sheep, or dogs and cats euthanized in animal shelters. Still want to chew on that piece of Fido?

I thought eveyone should know (although you probably don't want to-in such cases ignorance is bliss!)that most chocolate contain stearic acid,so if you're a chocolate addict who thinks their leading a committed vegetarian life-style, think again!
Again, does anyone know any brands of chocolate that don't contain stearic acid??? I'm one of those chocolate addicts!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

This is really aimed towards those vegetarians and vegans who "care about animals" rather than those who don't eat meat for other reasons. I am a vegetarian and I had to let go of all those leather goods like Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Nine West, etc. If you're gonna do something for a cause, then COMMIT to that cause.

I like most of the animals on this Earth but can't think of a single good reason to justify their existence. Wasps are the Devil's own work and just Evil !!
Bees are sweet (especially Bumble bees because they are cute and fluffy!!!) and will only sting if provoked. Wasps will sting at any time and can keep stinging and the little so-and-so's are becoming more weather resistant!

I just recently decided to go vegan, and now that Thanksgiving is coming up, I was wondering what I can eat instead of turkey. Yes, I know I can completely skip it and make something else for myself but I'm going to have to do that anyway. I'm going to a relatives house and...lets just say it's going to be interesting. -_- I've heard that Tofurky things taste really gross, and I was just wondering if that's true or not. But--PLEASE--only actual answers, no "why don't you eat meat, you weirdo" kind of things. It's a personal choice. Thanks in advance!

Actually a reuseable lunch bag...:-)
(No veggies and dip thank you.)
Something kids would like that isn't too "lame" and an adult can appreciate.
(Am I asking too much??)
Don't know where to look online for ideas... links would be nice if you know of any.
Thanks for letting me pick your brain!

I was reading a medical journal that said a vegan diet causes muscles to atrophy. It said the lack of complete proteins in a vegan diet causes muscles to waste away. Is this why vegans lack the muscle tone of someone who is eating a well balanced diet?

I have a veggie roommate that has been getting real weak and having fainting spells. Since going on this fad veggie diet, she has become very pale and skinny. I am really concerned for her health. What can I do to convince her to start eating a well balanced diet?

I want to find a perfect natural diat consisting of fruit juices / raw vegetables and other uncoocked food. Can one eat such a diet for a week or so to check on imbalance of bodily chemicals? Can one prepare such a food menu, that it covers ALL NECESSARY NEITRIENTS on daily basis ? If you have the answer, i am willing to try.

I read once in a vegetarian masgazine that it's not healthy for pregnant mothers to be vegetarians because red meats contribute to the growth of the baby's brain.....is that true? Also, does that apply to growing children and adults, as far as brain cell reproducton?

Wikipedia says:

"Caviar is not generally regarded as part of a vegetarian diet, even by vegetarians who consume milk and eggs. The usual reasoning is that harvesting the eggs involves killing (or performing surgery) upon the fish and thus contributes to animal suffering."

I call bullsh!t on that, though, because "does not eat meat" does not translate to "cares about animals." Eating eggs and dairy contributes to animal suffering, and eating eggs and dairy is part of the definition of ovo-lacto vegetarianism.

Comments?

i've been a vegetarian for almost 20 yrs....and at thanksgiving i've pretty much always gone to some-one else's house and just made do with eating whatever dishes were meatless (and truly i've kind of always dreaded thanksgiving because of it....there is usually almost nothing i can eat, and everyone else is STUFFED)....
anyways this year i'm kind of thinking about cooking at home for my husband and I (he is NOT a vegetarian)....and i'm wondering what i could make...

I was hoping for some info about vegetarianism. My 8 year son has decided he wants to be a vegetarian (he still eats fish, dairy, eggs). I thought this might just be a passing phase, but it's been 2 weeks now. I want to encourage him. Although no one else in the family is a vegetarian, we do eat pretty healthy - no fast food, no fried foods, etc. And Noah never was much of a meat eater anyway. My concern is how to get enough protein into his diet. What types of food can you recommend he eat? And does anyone have any good vegetarian recipes out there for me to try? Should I have him take a daily vitamin to place any nutrients he might not be receiving? Thanks!
