If you have an old jar of pickle juice, I believe you can put a cucumber in the juice and you'll be fine. Here's a guide.

Vinegar is a main ingredient. Go to the grocery store & find the canning supplies. There will be boxes and bags of "pickling spices" and instructions on them. It's fairly simple to do.

Or do a google search for pickling recipes.'

Fast, simple pickles
equal parts white vinager and white sugar, i usually start with three cups each, heat to a boil
slice cucs into strips about ten or more cucs, add to boiling liquid.
soon as they start to change colors, put in jars that have been washed and sterilized, pour enough of the juice on to cover then seal with sterilized, lids, ready to eat next day , store unopen jars in cool dark place, refridgerate open jars.
you can sterilizer you canning jars by running through a full cycle in your dishwasher or by boiling in a large pot of boiling water, the taps and rings put in pot of water bring to boil , leave in the water till you use.
