Well, if you buy REAL Swiss cheese made of milk out of organic production, having the cattle 10 months a year outside in the juicy grass - I'm sure you would be able to enjoy the cheese then.
Why not come to Switzerland and learn all about animal-friendly milk production.

There are swiss cheese alternatives that are soy, although most of the best melting and tastey ones are the ones with casein (a milk solid). You might have to be like me and choose between your taste buds for cheese or the life of an animal (although milk is a by-product of cows, they are treated so inhumanely just to produce milk. Plus dairy is an allergen for many people, myself included). I hear from VegNews that there is some new cheeses coming from a scottish island that are suppose to be way superior to what we have here in the states. It is the Isle of Bute Scheese, and they have flavors such as Hickory smoked, Blue, and Cheddar with Chive. This is one vegan who can't wait to try them!

I'm a vegetarian....I tried veganism for a few months a few years back, but couldn't do it because of my crazy love for cheese....I'm not that disciplined...the only thing I've found as far as cheese substitutes go are the soy cheeses....I haven't found any that taste much like swiss which is one of my faves

While there's always soy cheese (which isn't that great) there is also yeast. Nutritional yeast has a good cheesy flavor and it goes well on or in anything. You can usually buy it bulk at the health food store. You'll really appriciate it as a vegan.

Try a horomone free dairy. They have all natural milk, meaning one milking a day not four like other companies. I understand you are vegan, may be you should relax you standerds.
