Vegan means that you don't eat any animal products whatsoever, but what's the point? Milking a cow doesn't harm it (especially since cows experience a lot of pain when they aren't milked), you aren't eating baby chickens when you eat eggs... is there something I'm missing?

Most of what I read on the web says that a whole grain includes the germ, endosperm, and bran.

What confuses me is what exactly is the hull (or husk)? And is the hull removed in a whole grain? My friend says the hull is the bran and it's not removed, but I think hull and bran are different. For example, in oat groats, i think the hull is removed but they are still whole grain, and also in pearled barley the hull is removed but the bran stays. I'm not sure though.

Any information that would clarify hull, husk, and bran is greatly appreciated, especially links to sources and illustrations.

Thank you!

Any suggestions?

I've heard of boiling corn cobs for a stock and others have suggested celery carrots onions and a bay leaf... Any more suggestions? I guess I could add salt and a little cornstarch to thicken it up.

What do you think?

One needs a lot more greens to produce a pound of meat than 1 pound. Why then are veggie burgers more expensive?

I was researching the ingredient of bread and found this... is it really true?
" l-cysteine, our research indicates that the source of cysteine is human hair. Cysteine is an amino acid needed by humans, which can be produced by the human body. A very small quantity is used in less than 5% of all bread products. Often the hair of third world women is used. "
