I can't do it myself. I love meat. But I have many friends who are vegetarians for various reasons. Also, it's not usually because of animal cruelty issues -- many just think it's a healthier way to live. The main thing is to be careful that you get the nutrition you need. There are vitamins that we get only from meat, so if you're not eating it, you need to take a multivitamin so your immune system and bones and other systems stay strong.

I think that vegetarianism is generally a healthier option that will also leave you with a clear conscience. I don't see why there is any need to eat an animal, when we were more than capable of surviving without meat. Why walk when you have a bicycle? However, getting the right nutrients and correct combination of vegetables for your protein is essential, but as long as you eat a variety of beans then there is nothing wrong with becoming vegetarian. But vegetarians also seem to attract a lot of prejudice - e.g. non vegetarians trying to put meat into your food when you're not looking as a 'joke', and having to deal with the stereotype that seems to come with being a vegetarian. What people don't realise is that not eating meat plays a very major role in our lives (ok, mine...) and I've found that sometimes, the amount of disrespect for something that is entirely my own choice can be very overwhelming.
But I can walk around knowing that I'm doing something good just by eliminating one thing from my diet, and other vegetarians should be proud of what they are.
Just my opinion........

My wife is a vegetarian and I'm a carnivore. We're working on a sitcom for the Food Network. Actually, we get along fine. I do most of the cooking and have made some very interesting tofu dishes for her. It's a healthier choice. It does make eating at a restaurant trickier as she has limited options, however, there seems to be a larger market for the health conscious now and she has seen her choices expand.

Dear Sky,
Canine are present in our buccal cavity for tearing meat of other animals and our digestive system can digest veg as well as non-veg. If God Almighty wanted us to have only veg, why did he give us canine and the digestive system that can digest both?
Further more, most people base their arguement against
non-vegetarianism upon the principle of killing living things. They say that killing a living creature is a wrong act. They fail to realise that even plants have got life. Some people further say that I agree that they have got life but they can't feel pain. So I tell them that today, science has got even more advanced and science tell that plants can even cry, they can even feel happy. So, your logic has failed. One person went to the extent saying that plants have got two or three senses, animals have got 5 senses. Therefore, killing an animal is a bigger crime. I tell them that suppose, you have a brother who was born blind and deaf, two senses less. When he grew up, someone kills him. Will you tell the judge that please give the murderer less punishment because my brother had two senses less? The logic doesn't work that way.
Some people propose that Islam is a ruthless religion. You slaughter the animals and they feel pain. Its a barbaric religion. Its nothing but their lack of awareness. In Islamic method of slaughtering animals, animal dies a PAINLESS death. The animal contracts and relaxes not due to the pain, but due to the gush of the flow of blood. In Islamic method of slaughtering animals, most of the blood flows out of the body of the animal because we know that blood is a good medium of germs and bacteria.
Some people put a new logic, they say that science tells us that whatever we eat has an effect of your behaviour so eating animals, makes you ferocious. This is the reason that we, MUSLIMS are allowed only to eat herbivore animals like cow, goat, sheep etc. These are peacful animals. We Muslims are peace loving people. We are not allowed to have lion, tiger, leopard.
If you have any other argument or logic for not having non
-veg, you can contact me at:

It's great! Except 1 caution. Make sure you get enougth protein.
If you lack protein as a vegetarian, your skin will turn white. This will occur after about 6 to 10 months if you lack proper protein. Eggs will help in this manor along with Mushrooms they are high in protein.

From a secular perspective I think it is fine - we shouldn't judge others for their personal preferences.
From a biblical persepctive, Paul calls those who refuse meat for conscience sake, spiritually weak; nevertheless, we should not eat meat in front of a fellow believer IF it would offend them.

Each to their Own, I am a Vegie, but my husband and daughter love eating meat. We just cook separate meals and it works alright for us. I have been a vegi for about 15 years now, and there are down sides to it, but theres down sides to a lot of things, so hey eat what you like I reckon, as long as your happy. xx
