The naming of your business could be one of the most important decisions you will make. A name's originality and legal availability will create a real asset value of its own, as it becomes marketed and gains market acceptance.
The name you choose will become the focal point of all the benefits and features that relate to your business. Customers will be able to find and refer others to it in the future.
Since any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party, I wanted to go a different route...
I suggest either hiring a name creation firm or get together with your friends and/or family and throw a "name party" & have everyone bounce some ideas around. Compile a listing of names that you like the best. Once you have that list, do as much free research as you can before you delve into comprehensive research.
I listed some links where you can do some preliminary name checking. However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what's out there.
Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free & a great place to start, so I'd try them out first.
Comprehensive research consists of looking at marks that are similar in Sound, Appearance or Meaning in the pending & registered Federal AND State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.
There are other sites that offer free searching capabilities in conjunction with their commercial services, so I'm not able to post those links due to the Yahoo! TOS. You'll also want to check domain names & yellow pages, so simply do a search for "free domain name search" and "national yellowpages" and the appropriate links will pop up.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

There are a lot of different directions you could go. If you're coming at vegetarianism from a spiritual, cruelty-free angle (the restaurant would probably need to be open-air, with lots of potted plants and a painting of Gaia on the wall), you could call the place "Bliss" or "The Green Goddess," to appeal to the free-thinkers of San Fran. If it's more of a whole food, healthy diet approach, then something like "Down to Earth" or "Fresh Ideas." The other thing is that, if you look for vegetarian restaurants in the US, a lot of them don't say they're vegetarian in the name. They have names like "Cynthia's Cafe" or here in Seattle, "Cascadia." So really, your restaurant can be called pretty much anything except for, like "Beefmeister" or "____ Bar and Grill"... unless you did something really innovative by calling it "Skewers: San Francisco's Only Vegetarian Bar and Grill" serving vegetable kabobs, grilled vegetarian burgers and hot dogs, fruit smoothies, and our famous teriyaki filet-o-tofu. Hard sell, but it's an idea.

I would try to avoid the usual hippie earthy names that come to mind -- every vegetarian restaurant is usually named something idiotic like "Kosmik Cafe" or "Spiral Lotus Bistro". If I wanted to eat tofu cooked by some hippie dirtbag I'd eat at the parking lot of a Phish concert. Also for the love of god don't have a tip jar at the counter that says "Good karma." Some of us vegetarians are cynical bastards who hate good karma!
How about Kamikaze Veggie? As if the food you are serving is like a Japanese pilot committing suicide in your mouth...I would eat there.

"Garden Variety"... and add maybe some kind of slogan for advertising purposes. Hey let me know if you ever think about franchising or branching out... something like that would do well in Metro Atlanta.... as a matter of fact there is a restaurant there called "Soul Vegetarian"... well as you might guess because it is soul food/ vegetarian..
Wishing you the best.
