My goal is to make healthier side dishes for our Thanksgiving dinner this year but I'm wondering how to determine the amount of calories and the nutrition facts for the dishes I’m preparing. Is it as simple as combining the information found on each nutrition label? Or is there some other type of formula I need to use? This question might be geared towards health professionals or food science gurus. Any help you can provide is very appreciated.

God bless,
Erika

I want to make a yam casserole with marshmallows for Thanksgiving and have come accross several recipes. Does anyone have any recommendations on whether I should mash my yams or leave them in chunks? Or any must ad ingredients for flavor? By the way I am using Princella canned yams.

I want to make sausage stuffing for Thanksgiving but I already have a Sage Stovetop Stuffing mix...could I make it using that instead of going the homemade route? How could I make it and what kind of sausage should I use? Thanks for your help!

I'm looking to do a jellied cranberry recipe for the holidays and I need a "non-reactive gelatin mold". I was hoping to be able to use a non-stick cake pan instead of going out and buying something (it's by Viking for making little pumpkin shaped cakes). I know that glass, ceramic and stainless are non-reactive, but wasn't sure what material the pan is (undetermined metal). I was hoping that the non-stick coating would make it non-reactive.

I have been a semi-vegetarian for the past 4 months. Semi, as in I don't touch any meat outside of my house.
My parents found a book about vegetarianism in my room.
This was when I was a 24/7 vegetarian.
They told me "I found some disturbing books in your room about vegetarianism. are you trying to become a vegetarian?" I said "Yes." they said "Why?" i said "Because its healthier." and then they were like "You need a balanced diet to survive." I was like "No,there are a lot of vegetarians that are completely healthy. I can get all my nutrients from vegetables." and they were still like "You need a balanced diet. end of disscussion!" And I was eating stir fry and it had sesame chicken with it. So i was eating stir fry .My dad just stayed and said "i'm not leaving untill you eat it all." So from then on I only eat meat when with my parents. We're going tomorrow for my physical. I'm thinking about asking my mom to ask the doctor about me being a vegetarian. What should I ask her to ask

Why do people assume that because I eat meat that I am going to grow up unhealthy and die early. Eating meat doesn't give you heart problems and cancer. Eating Greasy SOYBEAN McDonalds FAKE MEAT BURGERS 5 times a day does.

I eat 2-3 servings of meat(palm size not that jumbo steak) and drink 2-3 servings of milk when I can. That way I get my nutrients. Eating meat isn't bad for you if avoid deep frying it in pig lard and slather it in butter and grease while toping it with fat drippings. I am tired of hearing "because I am vegetarian that I won't have such a high percentage of heart disease or getting cancer" Vegans never want to acknowledge that vegan diets can cause anemia, rickets, cretinism, osteomalacia, and hyperthyroidism.

Also a vegitarian diet can be beneficial to you but please be one for the RIGHT reason which is your body.

Saying "EATING DEAD CARCUSS IS NASTY AND GROSS!" is not only a poor excuse but they make other veggie fans look bad and ignorant.

Hi, I am overweight by 50 lbs, and I am tired of trying Slimfast, and other things that doesn't work. I am now going on a strict vegetarian diet. I will eat only grains and vegetables and no fats, sugars or candie or granola at all. I will just have veggies or some fruit for lunch no bread. That is it. Has anyone tried something like this before. And if so, what do you think of it? What has been your experience? I am also adding 40-1hr of exercise a day. Any advice would be welcome. Please don't be rude, People in my family have sufferd from heart trouble and diabetes and I am trying to help myself and don't have money for those fancy programs.-Thanks

and suggested to drink rat's milk as well as cats' and dogs' as an alternative to cow milk. Do some people drink rat's milk and can you buy it in the supermarkets? It seems so ridiculous to me, but still interested in knowing how viable it is?
