Hi, I am overweight by 50 lbs, and I am tired of trying Slimfast, and other things that doesn't work. I am now going on a strict vegetarian diet. I will eat only grains and vegetables and no fats, sugars or candie or granola at all. I will just have veggies or some fruit for lunch no bread. That is it. Has anyone tried something like this before. And if so, what do you think of it? What has been your experience? I am also adding 40-1hr of exercise a day. Any advice would be welcome. Please don't be rude, People in my family have sufferd from heart trouble and diabetes and I am trying to help myself and don't have money for those fancy programs.-Thanks

I am diabetic and nothing worked for me, except this. NO meat, No sugar, No dairy, and no chocolate. I live on salads, nuts , beans tofu, and some cheese. The goat kind. That is the only dairy I get. I take lots of supplements and I excerise like a mad woman. So far I have lost 72 pounds and still loosing. My blood sugars are great, I am still taking meds, but everything is better now. you will be suprised how easy this really is. I am proof it works. I am still on high blood pressure meds too. I have dropped one of them and in the near future I hope to drop all of them. My Doctor says I am very well nourished and we have gone over all of it, so I know it is worthwhile. He agrees, it works.

Unfortunatly its the eating pattern that needs to change not just going on a diet.
I gained a lot of weight once and I lost it - big time until I was super slim and fit. - I have never gone near that weight again and am still considered slim.
What did I do? I actually went to a Naturopath and she gave me a restrictive diet and some herbal drink - that was only the start of it. - I had a lot of weight to lose - it took about a year. I was fat and a vegetarian!
You may need to try some new foods that you are not used to eating and cooking in ways that you dont normally such as steaming and grilling. You may have to get a little adventurous here and start to cook more not eat so much ready packed food and take away food.
Hoodia works as an appetite suppressant and its a herb.
The secret to weight loss is not to eat more calories than you are using. And the secret to not getting so hungry is high fibre and slow burn carbs, soup also fills you up.
You can do this. I promise. I did it and kept the weight off for 10 years now - but you will have to be more active and change your eating habits for good.
Also, stop drinking calories, no more sodas or milky coffee or instant drinks and big time limit juice and alcohol. All empty calories - sorry.
Good luck.

Hi there,
If you wanna lose weight you don't have to become vegetarian if you don't want to. You can eat meat (with as little as possible fat in it,no breaded stuff) with fresh or frozen vg's,brown rice, whole wheat pasta. Having no bread and unhealthy snacks its a great idea :) Exercise is very good,it will improve your health and you'll be less likely to have the same deases as your family. I'll give you one tip, try NOT to eat after 8:00pm if you're hungry have a glass of milk that will help to get rid of the hunger. Don't be afraid eating 3 times a day and have at least one snack in between,as long as it healthy. You don't need expensive diet clinics and what now, all you need is STRONG WILL!!! Make this your priority and stick to it. For motivation tips google it or you can e-mail me :) I'll be happy to help you. I need a gym buddy too :)
Take care and good luck to you.

Sorry, but this is unlikely to work because most everybody would have trouble maintaining such a strict diet. Talk to your doctor. They can recommend a balanced diet for you. Diets should include some fat and protein and dairy, and eating all fruits and veggies won't get you enough. You will likely be malnourished if you follow your proposed diet!

Make sure you get enough calories to survive. Eat a good selection of fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, and nuts. Yes, you want nuts. They may have fat and calories, but they are good for you. Walnuts have omega 3 fatty acids, and heart-protective fats. Almonds have calcium.
Talk to your doctor before you start this diet and before you begin any exercise program to get his/her insight.
Good luck!

Unless you plan on eating like that for the rest of your life, what's the point? A "diet" should be a diet for life. Your lifestyle needs to change or else you're going to revert back to your overweight self as soon as you stop.

I would suggest you eat all of the food groups in moderation and incorporate some exercise.
