How come if you put chocolate in the oven, it would melt. But if you use chocolate chips in muffins, they don't melt?? This just seems weird??

Hi - I'm wondering if there's any book that you guys can recommend which focuses on food education. I'd like to buy one or two books to give to a family of junk food eaters - I'm interested in the food/health and in the food/social issues (as in behavioural problems occurring when kids are not fed properly). Thanks!

My husband smoked a killer turkey last year. I don't know the timing details but it was a big bird and had to be finished off in the oven for a bit after a good night in the smoker. He stuffed it with oranges last year and that rocked.... just wondering if anyone has other smoke-friendly stuffers. Apples, maybe? Any recipes worth sharing?

What's a good dessert/recipe to take to a potluck for Thanksgiving that you don't have to put in the oven?

Every time I grill steaks with our charcoal bbq, I end up pretty much burning the outside to a black crisp, just to get the steaks to a medium rare pinkish red color. The steaks we use are thick, because we get them at Costco, and they slice them very thick. And we don't want to get thin steaks, because the thick one are way more flavorful and juicier.

So is there a way to get a thick steak, medium rare without completely charring the outside to a crisp??

Help! My son is turning 3 on December 4th and we are at a loss as to what we should do for his party. We don't want to have a party at home as we have a 3 month old and a very friendly dog. Sure we could board the dog but to be quite honest we don't want the work that comes with inviting 30 people into our home. We figure that for the same amount as boarding the dog, purchasing the party supplies, food and cake, we could have the party elsewhere and not have to worry about the set up/clean up, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas on where we could have the party?

Please keep in mind that this is for a 3 year old, with his guests ranging in age from 1 1/2 to 10 years of age (not including parents and family).

We live in Southwest Scarborough (Toronto), Ontario.

Thanks!!!

Nothing too complicated, I just want little finger foods to serve before Thanksgiving. Obviously I want to cook as little as possible since I'll be making a huge dinner.

My cappuccino mix contains sugar (fills the top of the food pyramid), partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (vegetable group), coffee beans (fruit group), and dry milk (dairy) among other things. It fills most of the various food groups; so, surely it's okay to live off of cappucino (and the occasional Jell-O snack pack fresh out of the microwave), right?
