I wanted to make a turkey breast for thanksgiving, but couldnt find one so i got a butterball boneless turkey roast. after thinking about it, i starting thinking that maybe it was processed and then put back together in the shape of roast, which i dont want to serve. and it has the wrapper around it like a turkey so i really cant see what it looks like... does anyone know what this is?

A boneless turkey roast is just the turkey minus the bones. They split it open and take out all of the whole muscle then wrap it back up in the outer skin and seal it in foil or an oven-safe nylon bag. These are actually great! I've used them many times over the years. Just follow the directions on the label/package about cooking from frozed or thawed. I always split the foil/nylon open for the last 20-30 minutes of cooking to get some nice color on the outer skin.

Boneless turkey roast is all of the turkey with bones removed (dark and white meat). It is like the boneless turkey breast but does include the dark meat.
Just avoid the processed turkey roasts which come in a box shaped like a loaf of bread. That is the one you want to avoid.

No, these are not processed meats. It is simply turkey that has had the bones removed. They're very good and completely safe. It's the same as buying a whole turkey, but without the bones - this makes it cook faster, you'll have less waste, and it's easier to serve. Don't buy the ones in the foil trays, though. That kind is highly processed.

In a few more days the craving will wear off a bit. I quit cold turkey 23 years ago. One thing to watch out for is the "Oh well I'm doing ok so I'll just have one ciggy" trick. Don't do it, it will put you back to square one and undo all the hard work that you've done. You are over the worst of it now, you should be very proud of yourself. :o)

You are correct. It is minimally processed from turkey breast. Put back together into the form of a roast. They are very good. I wouldn't hesitate to serve at a dinner.

They are really great and is just turkey meat with no bones in the roast so you don't have to be concerned during carving.
