How many pre-wedding parties is it normal to have? I know that it depends on how many the engaged couple want because it's their wedding. But what's the average number? I'm the maid of honor for my friend's wedding...she's planning on having a bachelorette party, a lingerie party, a bridal shower, another bridal shower with all the people from the church who aren't invited to the wedding, and a rehearsal dinner. Luckily, responsibility was divided and I was only assigned the bridal shower. I was just wondering though because this seems like alot of parties, especially since it's basically the same 10-20 people on all the guest lists and the bride/groom are expecting to get gifts/money at every event from every person.

My girlfriend is very opposed to diamonds and other precious stones because they are related to the blood stone trade that funds wars and dictators in Africa, etc. What can I buy as a proposal / engagement gift instead? I've heard of buying matching expensive gifts (like matching kayaks) buy I would like to get something more long lasting.

I was wondering how much money was appropriate to give the clergyman for officiating a very small informal wedding held at the bride's home, any suggestions will be appreciated.

I have been with the same man for the past 6 years we have been living together for 1.5. We have no children.

We have spoke about marriage before and he promised me in the past that we would get it done in 2008. Now that its 2007 he says he is not ready and doesnt think he will ever be any time soon because we are "SOOOOOO young" (24 years old but we are both successful young adults)

I don't think our age should be an issue being that we have been together so long, we already share money and just about everything else.

I feel like I am wasting my time...I made up my mind that if there is no type of commitment by my 26th birthday Im leaving I cannot wait forever.

Wedding receptions are for everyone that was invited to enjoy, and a list of 100 of the bride's favorite songs the DJ is forced to play is a recipe for disaster. What to do?

I have been dating my fiance for 7 years and have been engaged for three. I set my wedding date this past August. We waited three years because we are paying for the wedding on our own and we could finally afford it. My sister in law has been engaged for less than 2 months (to a guy that she's only known since August) and called my fiance last night to ask if it was okay to get married the week before us. Obviously, this is COMPLETELY ridiculous in my mind and I am stressing out about it. We have to call her within a couple of days to give her our final decision but, since she is convinced that getting married will help her to get a lot more college financial aid (she's only 18!!!!!!), I think that she might go ahead and get married the week before me anyway. Am I being a crazy Bridezilla? I really am stressed about it and it's already a bummer because all of the drama surrounding her wedding has really taken away from ours. Errgh!!!!!
