I'm in a social work class, and I need to know what the budget amount would be for a family of four. I don't need an exact amout just something close to it. I would like all the help i can get...thank you.

i am a sister in law, this shower is for a niece. I was called by the mother and ask if i would like to help(said sure) and then i was told about the shower and where the mother had choosed and it would cost me about a $100.00. I told her this was to much, she get very upset because no one in the family has offer to throw her daughter a baby shower. (this is the first baby for the family). I told her i didn't know we where suppose to. I feel if we where to do this why didn't she come to us first and ask us what we would like to do for her daughter(there is only 1sister and 2 sister in laws)

My 62 year old Mom died in April 2006. My Dad announced he had a lady-friend in July 2006 (3 1/2 mos. later). My brother and I don't know how to take this news. We think it is too soon and disrespectful to my mom's memory, etc... It appears this relationship he has is getting more and more serious. How should we react? Mom was sick for several years and even said Dad would - and should find someone else...but in barely 100 days? Comments, PLEASE! Thanks, Betty

I feel like my niece who is my niece by marriage is being negected and mistreated in ways where she is not getting the attention she deserves from her mom and is being hollered at or popped all the time by her and her boyfriend. Everytime I see her she is dirty. Her mom has another baby a little boy and he seems to be getting the best treatment. I atually heard her mom say that her little girl was not kin to her and that she was going to send her off. She acts out at home because she is not getting attention. She doesn't act like that with me. I have kept her in my home from the time she was 2 months old. They lived with me a year. I have always got her at least once a week. She clings to me when I got to her house and cries for me to take her when I leave. I feel like something bad might happen if something is not done. They are other problems also. Please tell me something that I may be able to do so that this child has a happy childhood and good upbringing.

I am almost 6 weeks pregnant, i take care of my husbands brother who has a mental disability and i just turned 26 yesturday. My hubby forgot my birthday!

My head is turning from all the crying ( i am sensitive cause i am pregnant i guess). I feel so hurt. When my hubby got home from work yesterday i had dinner ready, i dset the table and even bought my self my own birthday cake. usually my hubby is the sweetest person, but when he realized he forgot he got mad at me and tried to make it seem like it was my fault that he forgot! I dont understand why he couldnt just apologize to me and try to make it up, instead he ignored me all night while i cried and didnt even bother to sing happy birthday to me or cut the cake.

So my question is should i be mad at him? if so, how long? what should i do? how should i act around him? should i even talk to him, answer his calls?

If i dont allow him to know that i am really hurt he will always be this way

and she started first grade today. i felt like crying b/c she is getting so big and i'm scared that them kids will not treat her right. she's a good, nice, beautiful girl who is shy. i hope that her first day will go ok. but the question is will i always feel like crying every year she starts school again. she is my only child my baby and i want her to have the best of everything including friends and lots of them.

My mum and I fell out over two years ago. But my mum is now using my 17 yr old daughter to get at me. She is smothering her with gifts, has even found her a flat, that she can't even afford. I want my daughter to stay at home until she is financially ok to manage a flat on her own. I cannot approach my mum, as my daughter thinks I am picking on my mum then, and me and my daughter end up having a blazing row. I have tried to explain this situation to my daughter, but she can't see it. I know my mum, and I know that she is trying to drive a wedge between me and my daughter. What can I do? I don't want to stir things up, but I also don't want my daughter to make the wrong decisions that would make her life difficult. I have a son of 15, my mother doesn't even bother with him. What can I do?

I remembered from last year they always told me that I need friends and i didn't have anyone to call. now i got a cellphone for my birthday and i have new friends who invite me to their houses and call me everyday. the problem is thart they get mad at me because i go out or because i'm in the phone talking. I really don't understand them because i behave good, and take care of my responsibility i really don't know what they want from me....?????...I relly know who my friends are and i know that anybody is not perfect but i think that they are afraid, scare that i'm going to the same thing as them......
