I feel like my niece who is my niece by marriage is being negected and mistreated in ways where she is not getting the attention she deserves from her mom and is being hollered at or popped all the time by her and her boyfriend. Everytime I see her she is dirty. Her mom has another baby a little boy and he seems to be getting the best treatment. I atually heard her mom say that her little girl was not kin to her and that she was going to send her off. She acts out at home because she is not getting attention. She doesn't act like that with me. I have kept her in my home from the time she was 2 months old. They lived with me a year. I have always got her at least once a week. She clings to me when I got to her house and cries for me to take her when I leave. I feel like something bad might happen if something is not done. They are other problems also. Please tell me something that I may be able to do so that this child has a happy childhood and good upbringing.

You can anonymously report her to Child welfare. They will have a thourough investigation into it. Why dont you tell them the next time they say something about sending her off, that you'll take her. I know I would take my nieces and nephews in a heart beat if needed.

That is really sad. If you feel that a child is being neglected, it is your right and your obligation to the child to call CPS. If you feel that you are able to provide a stable home for your niece, inquire about taking custody of her. Any call to CPS should be anonymous. Remember that if you do not do something and harm comes to this little girl, you will blame yourself for the rest of your life. This child deserves the best life possible.

Go to the local walfare/child services and tell what is going on. You could apply to be a Foster Parent for this child. As time goes by if the mother decides she does not want to keep this child you could possibly adopt her. I would not let this issue go if you really have the child's best interest at heart do something to help her. If something bad happened to her you would never forgive yourself!!!!! ACT NOW!!!

Well, if you live by yourself and you are older than 21, then you should take your niece and let her stay with you. But that isn't right for someone to treat one child better than the other. Just step up to the parents and let them know, or you can report them in to the DSS, and let them know what they are doing to your niece. Just let the Social Service know that you are going to take care of the child now.

Maybe you should adopt her? Since the mother has no problem saying that the little girl isnt even her kin and that she wants to send her away. Thats all I can think of right now, good luck in helping that poor little girl.

You may do her the world of good by, by calling child protected services. Can you also ask the Mom, if you can take her, try that first. I hope you can, help this child.

I know its not your problem but if you really love her is there any chance you would want to adopt her? If so offer to do this and see if she will. They are favoring the boy. Sad people by my definition. I would hate to think of her in a foster home when you love her.

You can report suspected child abuse/child neglect to your local DCF(department of children and families).
