I have a 2 year old and an infant. It is really important to me that they become friends later in life and I feel like I am already goofing up - the 2 year old already seems to resent her sister because of the amount of time I have to spend with her. Anyway, I'd love to hear from other moms (and dads!) with older kids on how they got their kids to become friends.

My daughters are in 6th and 9th grade. My 6th grader is in Advanced Placement classes (Gifted). She has always done very well academically and socially. She brings home all A(s). My 9th grader is struggling. We made it through middle school as a mediocre student with mostly Bs and Cs and math was a killer. Now in high school having received her first progress report, she has a 78, a 76, and a 69(Algebra I). I don't expect her to bring home all A(s) like her younger sister but I would love to have at least one A and 2 Bs and at least a C in algebra. What can I do to encourage her without making her feel as if I am comparing her to her little sister? I don't say things like your sister made this grade and now look at your grade but she always says that I want her to be as smart as her sister. I was an excellent student in the Gifted program and also made all A(s) but I realize that every child is different. What to do to help my older daughter excel? Trying to prevent sibling rivalry.

this guy has two children that he barely goes to see even though he lives within an hour from them.My grand daughter had him in her life just long enough to form a bond and now he only comes around if his concious bothers him, then when he feels better,he stops.I am so worried about her emotional state. She is 8 years old and will sometimes say "I hate him." but i know she doesn't mean it. He has hurt her so bad,the question I have is,my daughter,my husband and myself decided a long time ago to always let her call him if she asks to and never say negative things about him in front of her,we don't want her to feel like WE caused her to lose respect for her dad,but are we doing more harm than good. Sometimes when she's on the phone with him he cuts her off so fast, she just looks so hurt afterwards,we've tried talking to him...but that only lasts so long. Thanks for your time.:)

If you are on the job for a few weeks and the company decides to drug test (not only urine they are doing hair test as well). From what I understand hair test goes back as far as 10 years. If you fail this test you are fired. Is this really legal any where? I mean people change. Is it just certain drugs that show up on that? Please help...

He is 21 going on 22
His birthday is September 5, 1983
Our Parents are: Joyce & Lenard Owens
I'm his older sister: Lisa Owens
His full name is: Jesse Lee Owens
The last I heard he was living somewhere in Tennesse with our uncle Charlie.

Does anyone know what part of Tennesse? Or if he still lives there?

I'm 14. She's 8. I always lock the door when I do that in my room but I guess this time I forgot to. She didn't knock, she just came in and saw everything. She says that's disgusting and never wants to speak to me ever again. I don't want my sister to never speak to me ever again. How can I explain to her that what she saw might look gross but is normal, and every guy does it, and she will be doing it too before much longer, and she needs to knock before entering someone's room?

My personal belief is no, under no circumstances should children be allowed to be legally abandoned by their parents, but others at work do not agree. What is your opinion?

My nan who recently passed over onto the other side has caused uproar in the family by insisting, in her will, that her body is recycled. Not organ donation, which wouldnt be so bad,but something quite macabre. She has left implicit instructions that we feed her to the creatures at the local Bird of Prey park. This is causing our family great distress. She was 83 when she died-just in case that helps.

My husband of almost 11 years came back from his first business trip ever. He was gone for a week, came home said hi to our 4 kids and the animals, and gave me a quick hug and kiss. Then he took his suitcase upstairs and unpacked, changed his clothes and took off to his "2nd job" wiring a car for a friend of the family. I think he was here for a total of 20 minutes. Didn't even ask how our week was or anything. Just asked one of the kids if he missed him. Am I a wus for wanting a little more and feeling like he didn't even miss me? Been married for almost 11 years and the longest we've ever been apart is 2 days. Am I silly to feel this way?
