I already ordered him a computer, but it won't be delivered for weeks. What else can I do with him this weekend?

My sweet sixteen is coming up and my friends are also. Some are just throwing really small get togethers and were gonna watch movies and have cake and ice cream. Others are throwing HUGE parties and inviting, like 100 people. Some are taking friends to the mall of America and hanging out at camp snoopy. Me? Well, my b-day is on December 31. So...i'm sure you can just imagine how much i plan on costing my parents. But really, a computer would be enough. And $100 would be more than enough to throw a 50-person party.

P.S. you sound like an awesome Mom.

first of all he is 16, he probably doesnt need you to take him to chuck E cheeses anymore. when I turned 16 I was happy that my dad wasnt home and just had some friends come over and had pizza and ice cream cake and watched movies. (yeah I was a real rebel : )) I got a key board for my bday which was about $100 so if you are getting him a computer just let him know that its in the mail. if you still want to spend the extra $100 get the pizza and let him take the car (if he will have his license) and let his friends go go-carting or whatever.

Every 16 year old is different. You SHOULD know your own son. A computer at 16 is a pretty neato nifty gift, why do you feel you need to go further ?
One thing I did for both of my kids when they turned sixteen that was kinda corny but funny was to buy a toy car like a hotwheel and "parked" it and then blindfolded them to go out and see it ! I know it was corny but we had fun with the joke.

ask him what he would like, and then look into how much it costs, if it's a lil too much see if you can find a way to get the money, after all a 16th birthday is very special.

for my daughters 16th birthday I gave her a scrapbook that I made her I put sweet 16 on the cover and on each page I put pictures of her that year with captions. On page one I had her first birthday picture with other pictures from that year, next page was 2nd b-day... ect. I took her, her boyfriend and one friend on a weekend trip and went horseback riding, she was suprised with a party with cake and decorations on our hotel room. It was real sweet. she and I cried as she read her book good luck just knowing you love him will be special enough for him

What's he into? Maybe something different like paintball - or an activity for the whole family - like a fair or carnival? Maybe just some one on one time for the both of you - like dinner and a movie of his choice? Or maybe just spot him some cash to go to the mall for school clothes.

Do anything he likes and dont act like a mom. I wish my mom could just chill like a regular person EVER.that's why i'm closer with my dad. And use some of that money for something super special between you and him. Like buy his favorite ice cream or something.
