Family - June 2006

I have a sister who is has been on the decline for the past couple years, who has been getting worse with relationships with people. And I dont know wat to do! She has made quite a few enemies at our neighborhood, and they trash talk her all the time.

She comes home late, never answers her cell phone, is always with her friends, and just leaves without telling our parents a lot of times.

Also, she has been developing a dysfunctional relationship with our parents. She constantly fights with them and is always getting in trouble.

The catch is shes only 11 right now, and is just overall a difficult person to talk to. I quite often try to help her by giving her contructive critisism, but just gives me attitude like she does to our parents.

Im a junior in High School and understand wat shes going through, and did the same thing, but not 1/4 as bad as wat she does. But when i try to connect she just pushes me away.

I heard that most people grow up to be like their parents. Is this true? did you grow up to be like your parents? I think I am cuz I already feel myself picking up their bad habits like my dads bad temper and my moms procrastination. any tips on how to avoid this?

In today's society, A good father considered to be a man who is not imprisoned who feeds his kids and who does not have kids two or three other woman. Has society's ecpecation for man become so low? And society's expecation for mother's fo so high? IS a good father it his society considered a man who is not in jail. What impact does a father really have on his kids?

My daughter lost her first tooth at her dads. He gave her five bucks. She lost her second tonight and it surprised me. I have no cash! What should I give her? i've tried everything. i call her every 3 hours and tell her where imat. i put up with her every 10 min call. we argue every freaking month about the same exact thing. this is has been going on for like a year. how do i get her to trust me? she always takes my phone away complaining how i dont answer her calls. Lets say your parents are having a fight and its about you (the kid), how do you deal with the pain you feel? and is it hard for the kid or the parent that is defending the kid but also treating the kid a lesson? I jus want to know how to deal when your parents get in a fight over something you have done.

i told my mom i was gay today and she feaked out....she said that i was not gay and that she did not raise a gay son. i felt really hurt.. she started to cry and she left the room and i followed her and told her that i love her. she said i dont love her. she said that " why are u doing this 2 me, i've done so much for you." i keot on sayingi loved her. then i called my cousin and my sister for help. they came in and my mom was like" you guys new already" she told them to get out. then thats when my cousin was like " let me talk to your mom alone. its been like 2 hours now and she is still in her room. im not to sure if im ready for whats up next!!!!!!!!

She has just left the father of her child, has no job and the baby is due any day. She has always felt that she is unworthy and does not make the right choices as far as relationships and friendships. She is a very warm and caring human being, but seems to be somewhat negative at times. I want to help her so that after the baby arrives she can find a job and feel good about herself and maybe one day meet someone that deserves her and will treat her well.

I have a job offer in NYC starting early Sept, my wife has a job offer from Dallas starting in mid-Aug. For the most part we make equal pay (about 70-80K/yr each). Where would you move?

I really want NY, my wife really wants Dallas. I want the culture and the status of being in Manhatten, my wife just wants a really big house. What do you think?

The question before that was kind of posted by my little sister. We just got the answers and most of the girls that had an older brother said that they enjoy having an older brother. But when I heard her own version she said that I'm hitting and kicking her alot and that she doesn't consider me a good brother for that. But it's not like I really kick and hit her hard!!! In fact, I spank her and I don't do it alot... and when she hits or kicks back I let her do it as much as she wants because it's not too painful to me. Also, I know I'm not spanking her hard because she never cries and whenever we have those little fights, it's always with laughter.

But maybe it's wrong that i do that... why don't you tell me what y'all think abou that!

I'm working on a nighttime routine for my 7 month son but for naps and currently bedtime, he's used to going to sleep in a swing. How can I break him out of it?? He's never slept in his crib yet but my ultimate goal is to get him there as quickly as possible. Thanks
