The most profound message I have ever seen on a billboard was in CA -(and I had/raised 5 children)
It said simply ----
"NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER hit a child. . .
Amen

You shouldn't be spanking or punishing your sibling in any way, that is what your parents are for. It is there job that they took on when they gave birth to the two of you.
You should be going to your parents and letting them know what is going on and let them fix the situation.
There is a bond between brothers and sisters, of course you will not always agree with your siblings, however you are not her parents and in the long run you spanking, kicking, or hitting your sibling can cause more problems than anything.
There should be other ways of the two of you working things out instead of fighting, hitting, kicking one another.
Those little fights that you think are with laughter, may not be the way she is looking at the situation.

It all depends on what role you are taking. If you are a playmate, then, no, spanking is wrong. You are basically an equal and any physical act is simply showing that that action is acceptable.
If, however, you are taking an authoritative role, then yes, spanking is an acceptable form of punishment. I would caution, though, that this is really something that an adult should do, that can separate emotion and set a clear message to the child.

It is not good to spank your younger sister or brother. It may look harmless to you but it could hurt them. Self respecting children do not cry every time they are hurt. Your sister's opinion about you should have opened your eyes. She is no punching bag. What looks mild to you may be unbearable to her. Go and play with boys of your age instead of your sister. Girls are more delicate than you think. Buy her icecream and make up for all those painful spankings. Love her and see the difference. No physical spanking please.

Playful spankings of a younger sister by her older brother are a pretty widespread family custom. There's probably no harm in it, though you should be careful it doesn't get sexual between you. Of course, it may well give her a taste for being spanked when she grows up, but then that's no bad thing.

I think its not good to play-act spanking, hitting or kicking because they take that to school or kindy....thinking its normal. If any child took any physical action to my child I would have plenty to say....and it wouldnt be pleasant. Love/like shouldnt hurt...at all. If my children were subjected to that from an outsider...there would be hell to pay.
You should never teach a child that abuse is loving or kind or good because when they grow up they will think if a spouse doesnt hurt them...they dont love them. Do you want your little sister to die at the hands of an abuser?

It is wrong. That's something for the parents only to do. If siblings try to discipline siblings it amounts to abuse as you're not a mature adult in judging situations. It can get very abusive to the child that's being spanked or hit. When do you draw the line. Do you know the difference between abuse and discipline?

Boy you have an issue. Call Doctor Laura up. Stop hitting one another this will only cause hatred between you and your sister in years to come. After you and your sister have families of your own you will look back at your actions and wonder why doesn't my sister ever want to spend time with me. Well cause you hit her not matter even if its in playing. Men are physically stronger than women, but you are just an abusive individual.

Personally, the only reason why I would spank children is if they were about to hurt themselves really badly, like they're going to touch a burning stove or something like that. I'd rather have them face a little bit of physical pain than take them to the ER for burns.

The only time you should spank your younger sibling is if you were put "in charge" of them. In other words, baby-sitting. Otherwise, you should leave the discipline to your parents. That way your bond as she grows older will always be a tight bond, not one where she doesn't want to around her brother.
