If women stopped falling for the wrong guys then they would not be asking questions such as this. Stop and analyze the individual before you jump into a relationship with the bad boy or the mysterious man and go for substance and morals. Then you see if the question is valid.
Their are lots of fathers that do more than just bring home the "bacon".

I think so. I'm not sure why but a father is important. My dad wasn't really around but thankfully I have the greatest grandparents in the entire world. My grandpa was there for everything I needed him for. I've started a relationship with my dad now but he'll never amount to my grandpa. I don't think that societies expectations of fathers have become low, I think finally after a long time we are expect to much more from both the mother and the father. Unfortunately not all parents can live up to these expectations.

YES!! For example: if a husband(father) cheats on his wife, compulsory on his family, everyone says that well, he's a man as if this was any excuse ! But if she's the one doing the cheating, it's unspeakable, it's a crime! If most mothers were like most fathers they would not be allowed to grow their children. The impact on a father on his child depends of the degree of closeness between the two. For example, if the child looks up to his old man and does not have strong values of right and good(as all of us at a certain age), he will follow the bad example of his father because he's thinking that he's doing the right thing. Still, most bad fathers aren't interested too much in their children and spend few time with them, thus having no time to influence them in negative ways(excluding the fact they'll be deprived of their father)..

I think it depends on who you are talking to. In my group of friends and family we don't consider any of those statements as making a man a good father.
Both father and mother have a great impact on their children.........positive or negative......it's their choice. Too bad the kids are the ones who suffer if it is negative.

Yes, because they give birth, men think they are strong; not so. Women give birth, raise kids, keep house, PLUS work a full time job or 2 part time, all without complaining. Let any man try that. Not while this earth resolves.

It's not that society's expectations have lowered, but that it still remains under an antiquated sexist view point. Men are "supposed" to work and women are "supposed" to stay home and raid the kids. Obviously, this is not the way is should be.
